Default OIL CONTAMINATION AND BOREWASH

hi just some adice from the technical engineer types really?!

when your car is cold ( eg a 1600 zetec)
and started at idle the revs are 1200rpm!!

once warmed through the engine idle revs drop to say 850rpm

am i right in saying shutting down during the 'high idle' period that it can lead to borewash as the excess fuel needed to run at idle has no where to go apart from your sump of lovely expensive oil??

thanks for any detailed response in advance

i think the only time you will get mega bore wash is if your car runs on cold start all the time, ie one of the sensors is broken or somthing, even then it will drive like shit when its warm due to over-fueling.

if its all working fine and you start it then stop it on high idle/ mixture rich, im sure all will be fine

doesn't matter when you shut it down, at that point the fuel will stop flowing anywhere (injectors closed on injection system, no air through carburettor) so cannot cause problems.

'borewash' will be caused by massively too much fuel entering the cylinders (much more than be burnt by the amount of oxygen that is in the cylinder). or from a leak in the fuel system somewhere that contaminates the oil. that's basically what borewash is, it's a degreasing effect from too much fuel in the oil

just thought that if you shut down at 1200rpm the excess fuel would have no where to go??!! therefore contaminate your oil?!

no smell of petrol, just wondered
