Default Tracking systems on company vehicles

Right then, the company that i contract out to is MAYBE fitting tracking units to the vans........

I say maybe as they are sending all the vans in to have the "Speedos calibrated"............Bearing in mine about 10 of the vans are lease vans Sounds a little fishey to me

NOW THEN

Does the company HAVE to inform you if trackers are fitted to the vans....IE in a Privacy invation way....if you get me

Basically we are thinking they are getting the trackers fitted to catch people out who are getting to the jobs late or leaving early

They have to inform you that tracking devices are fitted to vehicles,
What they dont have to tell you is why they are fitted.
Some companies will be straight and say its to keep an eye on you and the vehicle, others will say it reduces the insurance premium.

don't have to tell you i don't think.

about to have one fitted to my van, company says it's for health and safety

basically it's to check up on you.

the ones we use show where you are,how fast you are going and when ignition is on or off

pmsl @ Mike!

Ah right Tiff. Well like i say they just have to sit about while 4pm before they set off. A few have tried encasing the tracker in a lead box that they have made with the plumbers scrap lead but to no avail

I use tracking systems on our trucks at work. By law we are supposed to get the drivers to sign an agreement saying they agree to being monitored. I am not bothered about the speed they go etc but it is needed for operations to find the bloody trucks when the drivers piss off and find a girl instead of making the drop.

I would say yes they should be informing you and you probably need to sign an agreement of some kind.

they do not need to inform you ... as they can be used as a way of lowering insurance on the vans...

have had them fitted to ours for 3 years.

they register time ignition is turned on ..
time engine started...
time of actual movement..
time taken in traveling ..
route taken..
etc etc etc..

now in our eyes were that we knew it was to keep an eye on us so we all slowed down ,basically losing a job a day.
we kept it up for a while , and basically turned out one of the bosses was sure one of the engineers was extracting the wee on overtime ..

but the upside was that it required a dedicated member of staff to moniter all the data.. and no one could be bothered after the first 6 months

but what you can do is find the sat receiving antennae and put a very fine metallic mesh over it (faraday cage)
all the data is sent via mobile fone gprs so get a mobile fone blocker and situate it close to the unit ..

can't see the problem unless you are doing summit wrong tbh ...
