Default My cars sorta back to normal!!!!!!!! 17/6/06

as above got a problem with my car, was driving home today from birmingham when i noticed when i put my foot down the car is hesitating .....

my thoughts are thats its not mechanical, oil pressure is great as is water temps, but when i put my foot down the car hesitates and almost gently rocks forward and backward.

driving the car normally the car is fine i'm running 300bhp, superchips chip 4bar fuel reg. the car has had nothing changed to suggest there could be a problem the plugs were new 2k ago (altho not got to check them yet as its dark).

but as said it only happens when i boot it the car jolts it hesitates then what seems like its missing then when i change gear its fine until i try and boot it again......

my first thought are plugs/coilpacks,leads and secondly it could be the fuel pump as i am unsure if its still the std one or not

But as said the car has never suffered a problem with whats its been running for 6 months never skipped a beat... only 1 problem i had was when i bought the car plug gaps were incorrect...

cheers Ad

Well mine was doing that on the way up to central day yesterday as the dizzy got wet, try changing your cap & rotor arm!

Cheapest option first! Make sure you get a black Bosch rotor arm and not the pikey brown version Ford fob us off with! Oh and a bosch cap.

Get it from Woodford Garage mate, next day delivery!

Fookin lord, should have guessed!!

Have you checked the plugs etc? could be one of the sensors failing ie air temp, water temp etc...

the oil temp and water temps sensors are fine too...

Get a code reader on it, you might find the problem straight away and save yourself loads of grief swapping good components.

Anyone nearby got a 3 digit code reader? Failing that, most independant garages will have one, expect 15-30 mins to run through the tests.

ok slight update, decided to rewire the car like damo and others said .. its now done and car still plays up altho, the plugs were fine so i thought it wasnlt that .....

next was thoguht to be a lambda sensor but due to miss understandment i have bought a BIG turbo one , so now i need to go out and buy a small turbo one if anyone knows of a good place to buy them MSD said Ł180 will ring a couple of places mon ..

next also fuel pump is in the pipe line i am trying to source a GOOD COND FUEL TANK if anyone has one!!?? it will be foam filled then will be fitted up with the 023 i have here then will straight swap it onto my cossie with a fuel filter swap too just encase thats a prob

so for now i am guessing its the lambda sensor as it works better when the lambda is unplugged will order the part 2moro and keep fingers crossed

Airflow meter is what I have found to cause the most problems.

ok sounds like one of the next possibilities anyone got ideas on where to get one?

also replaced the boost hoses for ROOSE items encase of a air leak and no change.....

also unsure if i mentioned, i had tried unplugging the chip too but the car still idles rough so i am thinking it has to be a sensor

ok changed the air flow as mr shread said the car now does not hesitate and goes really well ... apart form that the car is still idleing a touch lumpy but is sticking to around 800rpm and goin down to about 600 and back not all the time just now and then... not like before when it was all over the place

i am still going to replace the fuel tank and pump etc as it needs doing

TO BE CONTINUED...

i'd now say that the ecu wans disconnecting (or the battery) for 10 mins now you have found the fault and then let it re learn the new sensor values....

idle for 2 mins, fast idle for 2 mins then 5 miles of varied driving - should be ok then

well i have took the car out again today and its still idleing dodgy

i am going to perhaps remove the iscv and give it a clean out maybe its that...

also i have changed the plugs about 1 month ago to ngk ones i think i did have MOTORCRAFT AGPR 12PP

so unsure if it could be that...

really think its worth sorting the idling as ignoring it is the wrong way to be going ...

any suggestions greatful again
