Hello im new to the site and need your help please ppl, My uncle is going to buy a white sierra rs 500 cosworth tomorrow, before he buys it though he wants to know if its a genuine 500 and not a replica. Does anybody know of a website/person that has/knows the chassis numbers to corrospond with a genuine 500. The sierra in question seems to be genuine its got the plaque and everything else to be a 500 but my uncle just wants to be on the safe side.

Do you know the name of the guy or the cars registration number....It or the owner might be known to us.......and the serial number on the plaque of the car....eg 274 of 500 etc

 

here is number for the rs500 registrar he would know about it his name is martin thomas 01792 815360

 

thhe plaqe dosnt come withh 500 ,s you only get it when you register it with the registra



try this one with ignitoin on open the boot the electric aerial should go down then come back up when boot is closed a thing often missing on reps as well as the usaul checks of course

Chassis series for RS500 go from GG38600-GG39099 ( last 7 digits of chassis no).

 

Engine numbers are not the last 7 digits on an RS500!! The engine number is under the cambelt cover at the front.. should begin YBD

 

Engine no ON RS500 YBD0015 to YBD0537

 

 

Cheers for the response lads, the registration number is E686 GRP, the cars from Junction 28, they are selling the car for someone else, the engine number is GG38766, ive rang Paul at north yorks rs spares and he didnt know so he's give me martin thomas's number but cant get hold of him at the moment.

from the picture of the interior it looks like the number on the plaque reads 41 poss 3?

I wouldn't touch it unless I had personally spoken to the RS500 registrar from the RS owners club, I have seen how much that car is up for so you're obviously very serious about buying a 500, so for the 30 odd quid its gonna cost to join and then speak to the registrar its money saved.

Having said that I cant see in all their years of trading how J28 would try and sell a 500 thats not what its supposed to be for that sort of money.

yes it is just the 500s and it was to avoid hitting the lower spoiler

 

Not if you have to rewire things when you put a new one in

 

Just letting you know my uncle bought the car today, its number 423, we checked the engine number up and chassis number and they all match up with the car, we had smiles on our faces coming home and so did most of the other motorists on the road couldnt believe the amount of ppl looking taking pictures and even taking videos of the beast, its a lovely car, and its been well looked after theres just receipt after receipt of work thats been done, alot of money has been spent, fast ford were there when we picked the car up and took pictures to put in next months mag.

My uncle is well chuffed with his decision to trade his bmw 325ci for the 430bhp monster it will only be used in the nice weather and stored away the rest as he done with his series1 turbo.

Thanks alot for everybodys help last nite finding out if it was a true 500.
