been to Rallyschool.co.uk twice now, 2 full days in a subaru wrx, based on an old airfield, about 3/4 people to a car usually, and you do 8 seasons on a full day. can somtimes get offers on the website. good fun

Cheers mate, that looks ok....any ideas on how long the sessions are?

Yes he always been into cars, has done a couple of trackday experiences but never a rally day so thought I'd go for that.

Different levels have different prices. They dont have structured timed 'sessions' like trackdays.

That one is the 4 hour one, the gold is the 7 hour one etc etc

The 'thrill' at £99 seems half decent value.

Si's back again in pic 3 this time He says the time given in the car is depending on experience. If your good you obviously get more than if you have to be trained etc...

NUTSRuS, you know anything about the silverstone rally day? its 255 for the whole day with basic training, techniques on the morning and then some full special stage runs in the afternoon with your instructor as your co driver. does that sound any good?

Is that in their Mk2 escorts ? If you can handle one its good yes but if you have to be trained to be confidant and quick then most of the day is wasted as you will only get a few laps of the 'stage' late on in the afternoon. But they are mostly all like that to be honest.

Yeah it's in the mk2 escorts. i hope I will get to the grips with the car in the morning as i'm usually a pretty fast learner. Not really had any experience with rwd though which will definitely put me at a disadvantage . The way I see it is that I will either find out how crap I really am, or take to the car really well and be able to make the most of the day. Driving is my 'thing' to steal mike rainbirds words. Although only fwd at the moment mainly due to lack of money. lol. one things for sure though, i'll give it my all!

I am in the process of learning left foot breaking and toe heel, nowt to do with the mk2 escort but just thought i'd add that/

Find somewhere that do either 4wd or FWD then, that way you will get far better value for money IMHO

I was thinking that. My main reason for choosing silverstone though is that i've never really drive a rwd car before and probably never will get to drive one like I would on the day so it was as much about the experience as it was the actually learning. if that makes any sense? I would like a mk2 escort at some point though so I guess it would show me what theyre really like?

Maybe I should think about it a bit more before I make any decisions

It kinda makes sense yes, but remember these cars are built as school cars and not road cars.

Thought you had booked it as part of a build up to a BARS test or something, not just for a play, in that case go and have some fun

I know a few people who've been to the rallyschool just up the road from me and have never heard anything but praise for it.

I've met the owners a few times (our company has a fun 'corporate' day there each year) and they're really friendly and down-to-earth. Never tried the rallyschool though.

Try www.extremerally.co.uk - they do courses at several places in the UK and Sweden. It is in Hyundai coupe's tho' if you want a go in fwd. Still bloody good fun, they are ex wrc recce cars. You get about 7 sessions in the full day each one about 20 mins.

Ive done the Phil Price one and thought it was very good value for money and lots of fun.
Use MK 2 Escorts and Escort Cosworths. There is a little bit of competition in there with some timed runs at the end of the day with points deducted for hitting cones ect.

i did the half day at the rallyschool and was not impressed really, alll we did was handbrake turn around some tryes in an old airschool, in a focus 1.8, there were 2 cars for 6 of us, so basically we were there for 3hrs and got to go in the cars 3 times each (each turn lasted no more than 5-8mins,) there was a portacabin and a portaloo and you had to buy tea and coffee etc, and it cost £200 i think,

Buy the 2 tickets M8 and show the old man how its done

if you pay an extra £10 on the day Phil will take your wife or who ever is with you round the in one of his cossies at full pelt

You realise that you have now got to come away with the trophy at the end of the day

I did "no pressure"

Seriously M8 you will have a great day
