you could probably reach 500 bhp on a 2wd engine with all the right bits, but it's how long it would last, and if you were going that mad on mods then it would be silly not to upgrade to a 200 block

Dont think you need the head mate , they are the same apart from the oil return pipe on a 4x4 and a very slight cc difference.
As cossie1 said though deffo go fro the 200 block (new) as it has thicker walls.
Crank/ pistons etc are all basically the same strength wise etc, just get the correct size pistons for the block.

afaik you need a 4x4 block if your gonna go silly power
all internals from your 2wd will fit the 200 block, but if you change to 4x4 pistons then you won't get any piston slap atall.
I would think 350ish bhp would be ok on a std 2wd bottom end.

my car is approx 350bhp using 4x4 bottom end and 2wd head

Oops, one more thing. The standard bearings(crankshaft, connecting rod)can withstand such high hp figures?

the standard bearings are fine (genuine cosworth) as long as they are standard size!!

the 4x4 head has different/better water ways as well
