Default Got me a new S1!

Drove it back this eve - well impressed

Nice little trip down the M1 with Mr Galbally in tow, had a little fun, but was hesitant about booting it.... Got home with it tho, bro wanted a ride, took him out and did give a good kicking Rah - it IS fast

Question tho - pulling to the left a bit under boost and jumping back when you lift off or change gear.... Any idea's? It does have a bit of flex in the inner wing (left hand side) so I think that might need plating or maybe even replacing, jsut wondered if that might be the cause of the pull???? Or is it more like bushes or unmatched suspension (Spax top adjustables with std springs)

Brakes are cack they gotta go

And for a Scorpion, it has a nice burble and tone

All in all, pretty impressed, jsut a few small jobs to sort (central locking, inner wing and pulling problem) other wise seems sound

Pics in a few days as it is getting a bit dark now, tho some here from previous owner;

Gimpy,

Sort out the inner wing first and any other bits on the front end you want sorting then get the thing 4 wheel aligned....you need the tracking checked and castor/camber....they are a bit more complex to set up due to the adjustable tie rods on the front...

Well done mate, glad you got another S1
The pulling could be one of the bushes that is worn as I had the same problem on my Sierra.

Get the brakes sorted though, mine came with standard brakes when I got mine, it was a bit scary to say the least

Dave - not fooking wrong! Braking from 130 down can be a bit of an "expirience"

Now someone told me they generally pull to the left due to one driveshaft being shorter than the other - but not expirienced any other RST do it this much, my last S1 didn't Still first thing is to have it laser alligned, and want to pop it down to my mechanics to have a butchers underneath properly, and then I can check the bushes properly....

Now - who knows what the fook they doing with setting up Spax top adjustables?

Also, had my first "incident" with it this eve Was caining it up this hill, as you do, got to fourth and then a big BUMP (rut in road or something, tyre pressure is down a bit in front drivers wheel so felt it good) but suddenly noticed I lost all power! Floored it but revs just kept dropping, popped to third and still no power, cruised to a stop and it died and wouldn't fire again. I shit it and thought I had smashed the fuel pump, but I looked under hood and thank fook I noticed the oil cap had come off cos the rubber seal is conmpletely bolloxed Hench the no start! Put it on, tried to start, fired no problem So time for a new oil cap too

Please Ross, would love to see how she is coming on

DJF - only 12psi, but it was the bump that popped it off cos it is soooooo loose Just gonna get a non-bling yellow one 2morrow for a couple of quid to sort it for now....

Boost is spiking 12, holding 11, but after 5,500 or so tapers slightly to 10 - think this is due to insufficent cooling as it only has stock i/c... Need bigger i/c

my s2 did this when i first got it, but went the opposite way from yours, turned out to be the track control arm balljoint on the drivers side, but seeing as this is an s1 it might be different due to the setup, but will give you an area to aim for

hiya huni!!!!

Aye, I would like to bring it, but rather lug that box home in the van

Tell ya wot tho, she really is a pleasure to drive I didn't realise, but my 3i was SUCH hard work! Specially after the 17"s went on. HTis is so much more responsive (steering wise) and so much smoother and far less effort to drive. I find myself steering with fingertips like I do in my PAS equipped van - no way you could do that in the 3i

Don't think the handleing is quite as tight as the one I sold Ross, but that maybe down to ow all the adjustables are set up - that one was proper set up jsut right and was well tight so once I sorted bushes and get her 4 wheel aligned, gonna get someone to have a go setting up me suspension to get it proper road warrior styleeeeeeeeeeeee
