Oh GOD...changing plugs on a Skyline.
As many know i am a goon..ROFL.......but i feel a knowledgable goon re Cosworths..as i have learnt it all myself with no former mechanical experience...so saying what i am about too does not make ME feel stupid as this GTR is a new learning zone
Ok i decieded to have a look at what spark plugs it runs.....and fuck ,where are they?
Took the middle cover off..like taking a Cossie rocker cover off
except the cam cover breather pipes have to be disconnected and a module unplugged two ends..which aint that easy
So i now see NO LEADS but grp a looking coils x 6
Thats as far as i got as these need taking off as i am assuming the plugs are underneath...Now i am having a stab in the dark by saying these are coil packs????
Can someone explain how this setup works compared to conventional?
THANKS.

probably a seperate coil pack on top of each plug used by quite a few manufactures nowadays VAG 1.8t engine has the same instead of one coil pack and ht leads.the seperate coil packs are usually held in by two screws/bolts just undo these lift off the coil an the plug will be underneath

You fookin spazzo IMA
Take the plug cover off, pull off the coils off the top of each plug, change the plugs, refit, 10min job.
Bet you been arguing with em down halfords as they didnt list fookin plugleads, dizzycap, and rotorarm

Only trouble with coil on plug malarky is heat killing them.
And also when you got mega power and need better coils aftermarket ones are either not up to much, ripoff, or both.
Easy way around this tho, like Keiths new setup...

It works in the same way...
a coil generates a high voltage pluse and instead of transmitting that down an HT lead and into the plug you are directly delivering the high voltage directly to the plug.
Connections are always the weakest link in an electrical circuit, so reducing the number you have is always a good thing!
