Default What car for £15-17k???

Have a few options so far.Needs to be a daily driver, reliable, fast, reasonable running costs and low depreciation.
1. Escos. For:want one,looks,low depreciation.
Againstotentially MASSIVE running costs, old, good one's rare and hard to find.

2. Focus RS. For:New,warranty,low running costs,looks.
Againstepriciation,mixed reports on driving etc.

3.BMW M3/330. For:reliability,speed,comfort,build quality.
Against:running costs,image.

4.Boxster. For:reliability,build quality,its a Porsche,depreciation.
Against:Not that fast,hairdresser image.

Any suggestions welcome,no stupid machinery that costs LOADS to run etc,and i don't want an import of any kind...

For a daily driver I would look towards the M3 or the Porsche, but the problem with some of these cars is that they are so quiet and comfortable that they are just boring!

Also you will loose money on both of these over time, and they are nothing special/unusual to look at unlike an Escort Cos!

I'd buy the Boxster

Not the faster car there but overall by far the best imo

to stay with ford wopuld say a rs focus cos as said there under warranty and there quite realable?? if kept standard and i would say they would hold there value just cos there was a limited production of them and they got the rs badge. but then onces the focus cossie comes out will that effect it??

could always go for a st170 or a mondeo st24

Yup, Honda S2000 all the way!! Pain being a 2 seater though if yo uferry family / friends around.

I was in the same boat as you matey, and looked at a couple of evos etc.... decided on a new shape integra type r.... 51 plate, 11000 miles etc etc, rev like fook, 6 speed, 4 seater, Brembo 4 pots, recaros, looks the nuts, 100% reliable, not as thirsty as the likes of cossies and evos, and should hold their money due to rarity of them....

here she is!! Had it a couple of months and am well happy with it

If you are keeping the Saph then definitely the M3 or the Boxster! Something to pose around town in really is all you need!

why does it have to be a daily driver? do what I and many others do and buy a cheap runaround for the day to day stuff, the cost of this totally offsets the running cost of a cossie so it does make financial sence to, I now run a round in a mondeo ghia with cruise, air con etc, not bad for the daily hack, even better cos it only cost me £175!!!!
BTW are you camping at the farmhouse before national day if so me and quite a few others are to so if you want to come down with us PM me
we can also have that run out I promised you.

BMW diesels are amazing mate

Totally re-define your thoughts of dervs!!

I'm driving a 525 d at the moment and its easily fast enough for a daily driver, sometimes it seems to pull and pull whereas other times it seems slow as anything!! Stayed with a 330ci in 2nd/3rd earlier, and have done 145+ on the speedo (top end they just keep going and going!!!)

Driven a 530d as well and that was impressive (but being an auto I couldn't really compare it)

Well, as a female I'd say a porsche.....but that's probably a reason for you not to buy it, unless youd like to marry me and let me keep the car?
I personally like Lexus is200's.....blue.....with 18's....larvley ....Id want one just to clean and sleep in.

Would love to go TVR mate just on noise alone, but reliable...hmmm.
Have got some serious thinking to do,was originally going to be an Escos cos i've always wanted one,but since my saff killed itself 2 years ago has put me off buying another YB engined car.

I've wanted an Escort Cossie for years, still do, but went for the Focus RS for the same reason's you've mentioned. Would like to think one day I'll own one but couldn't afford to do what I wanted with it + maintain/repair it!

I've always loved Fords + RS's so naturally the Focus was the obvious choice for me, it should hold it's value pretty well being so limmited, also being new reliability etc is no problem at all, is also comfy without being boring. Also, after the simple/cheap modifications I've done, it's goes like fucking stink!!

Golf GT TDi and then get it remapped by MSD!

195bhp & 280ft/lb

Cheap as chips to service (every 10,000 miles) and delivers over 50mpg!

We've just brought an Audi A4 for our daily runner which means I can garage my S2 and look after it properly rather than driving it to and from work everyday.

Can't report further on it as we haven't picked it up yet but we've been told they're good cars so touch wood
