Default Brakes for S1 RST.....

Lol at all me new questions and I ain't even picked car up yet

Originally the plan was to go ST170 300mm discs and calipers on her, but I think I'd rather keep the std seven spoke rims on now, so need BIG brakes that still fit behind the 15's

Whats the combo for Cossie brakes then? 2WD discs and 4x4 4pots isn't it? Or is it best not to use 4pots as they need machining or summat?

I had the 2WD discs (283mm) with S2 calipers on me 3i and TBH not too impressed with the performance over std, and VERY not impressed with the fitment - fooking LOADS of hassle with em and they were never spot on

So whats out there folks?

283's are the biggest behind the standard rims with either S2 or Cos 4x4 calipers......

i have a query in with demon tweeks about this very matter! want brakes that fit behind the standard series 2 wheels. Hopefully they should be able to supply an AP racing kit. Failing that, i think Wilwood do a 4 pot setup that fits behind the standard rims. i'll let you know if i find anything out.

Thrush, 4x4 Cossies don't have 4pots - that's the 2wd calipers.

Do the 4x4 Cos ones jsut bolt up tho, or do you have to machine the hub face or caliper carrier to get em to fit?

Caliper carrier needs more clearence for the top of the disc to clear them and the caliper itself needs a bit taking of to clear the disc...

You also need some very small shims (1mm ish) to space the caliper out so it doesn't catch the disc....

I use 2wd discs and S2 calipers in mine thrush, and never had any problems with them.

Did you replace all the brake fluid in the system when you had them on the XR, as this would reduce the braking performance, as would leaky servo, old master cylinder, rubber hoses.

This is a current problem for me!

I wanna use the 4 pots and either bells & rotors or 4x4 discs.

Just gotta decide what ones.

Not really confused per-say(sp) Daz, jsut not sure what it is I want. I might jsut have to go fook it, lob some 16's one and do the St170 conversion....

I don't really want to have to machine any surfaces (of hub or caliper) to fit Cos calipers, but was not too impressed with the fit or performance of the Turbosport conversion (2wd + S2) I had already....

Other option is the Wilwood 4pot set up with 285mm discs.... but thats rather £££££
