Default GREEN/YELLOW wire on Edis-4 for the frst ofab????????

i have converted a mk3 to frst power! i went to start the car and it was turning over and thats it.under inspection i noticed i was not getting a spark.i changed the cps and checked EVerything was all plugged on correctly. The coil pack is fine and is getting power. Then under inspection of the loom i noticed that on the plug that connects to the EDIS-4 unit, the GREEN/YELLOW wire is broke.i took all the at off that part of loom hoping to find the other bit of wire so that i could re-connect this...................................But it wasnt there?? i checked the plug ends to find where the wire goes to but cannot see it on the end of ANY plugs.i checked to see if the cps was getting a live feed and it wasnt??? ive since been told that the cps doesnt work off of a live feed!!! is this true???
IF SOMEONE COULD PLEASE tell me what this wire does and where it goes i would be very very very happy again.im starting to get very disheartened as i know ive done everything right and the fu#kinm thing still wont start!!!!!!!!!!

check the 3 wire multiplug to the coil pack. should be 3 wires(obviously) green and red and green and yellow both go to edis module, black one should go to suppressor and then back into the fuse/relay box.

incidentally the wire you have found also needs to go to the rev counter to get that to work, so if the loom you have has been butchered before to fit an aftermarket rev counter for example, that could be whats up.

errr, well then your loom is different to other eec-iv looms. I'll have another look in a bit mate. you should really have the haynes manual when wiring up engine conversions.

i know i could do with a manual, its just you shouldnt really get problems like this when it is just a matter of connecting up multiplugs

when the plug is connected to the edis unit, and your facing towards it,it is the first wire in from the left???

is is in between the blue/yellow wire and the blue/red wire if this helps????

I don't really inderstand how a wire can be the first from the left, and between two other wires...

Looking at the original of this blurry picture:

http://www.kolumbus.fi/ulpu.tuominen/JT_kuvat/edis.jpg

B/R is signal ground (#4) and B/Y is PIP (#1). #3 is B/Y or G/Y can't really tell, anyhow it's the SAW and definately should be connected. You're stuck with a static advance of 10 degrees without it. It should spark fine though. Also in between is #2, which is IDM, the diagnosis line to the ecu and is removed from my install.

I converted a zetec XR2i to RST some years back. I recall that this wire is like that on purpose - only 2 inch or so of wire that goes nowhere. It is used on other models. I had similar problems that were down to the relays etc – for example, fuel relay on zetec seems to pulse the fuel pump, whereas the RS uses a constant live feed. If you are getting no spark and there is definitely power to the module then it could also be the wiring to the CPS as this usually gets a lot of heat damage near the sensor. The CPS does not have a live feed. You need a slow speed scope to check the signal – I think the signal is a few volts above ground. Spikes can be seen on a scope when the engine cranks that corresponds to the missing flywheel tooth. Also, a poor battery will stop the module working correctly as the crank speed will not be enough for the sensor to produce a large enough signal.

If your testing the CPS its an inductive sensor, bung a meter across the terminals and firstly check there is a resistance reading, no reading = coil has gone open circuit. If there is a reading, switch your meter to AC Volts and crank it over, and if its reading the marks on the flywheel u should get an AC Voltage.
