Swapping from 1.6 to 1.8 Zetec
The big end has gone in my 1996 Escort 1.6.
I've decided to go for a 1.8 from a 1998 GTI in the breakers. I have got a local garage to agree to doing the swap although it will be the first time they've wired in a 1.8 to a 1.6.
So I was hoping that you might be able to give me some advice on the conversion to make their job easier.
I've spoken the breakers and they'll be sending me an engine with all the ancilleries + the loom + the ECU + ignition barrel and key.
Is there anything else that needs to be taken into consideration.
I'll be sticking with the standard gearbox, because the MTX75 from the GTI had already gone. I need a new clutch though anyway.
As much information as possible regarding wiring etc will be welcome.

1.6 zetec to 1.8 zetec? or cvh to zetec?
if both are zetecs then all you need is the engine and the ecu. you should be able to mate it to all your ancilliaries as the blocks are the same, then bolt the old inlet manifold and exhaust on to it, plug all your existing loom into it and just put the new ecu where the old one was.
if the old one was a cvh then basically, get the engine mount too and fitting it all in should be straightforward. the wiring just needs to be replicated what was in the old engine bay, where the loom is disconnected from the donor car, you'll need to connect it to a fuel pump relay, ignition relay and then a couple of fuses and it's just ignition live and permanent lives.
