Default Quick question about DVD Regions....

If a DVD is of Region 1 (US, Canada) I'm guessing it won't play on me DVD player here (don't actually know, cos never had a region 1 to try out)

Is there a way to convert a DVD region? Ie, could you load it into a PC DVD ROM, upload it to PC, the burn ot DVD as region 2 (or universal) etc?

And do you have to have a DVD-ROM to do this as I don't got one of them

Also, whilst in a similar subject, apparently the Australians and NZ use PAL format VHS tapes that I'm told will work fine in our UK spec VCR's - any one confirm please?

Nice on Tiff! I got this from your link;

Region code hack posted by Roger C, December 18 2002:
Power up with no disc, enter 2812 and the Hidden menu appears.

The items available are:
1) Region 0 GLOBAL
1 USA/CANADA
2 JAPAN/EUROPE
3 SOU/EAS ASIA
4 SOU AME/AUS
5 AFC/IND/RUS
6 CHINA

2) Default ENGLISH
FRENCH
SPANNISH
3) AG/SU/AU Disp ON/OFF

4) Micro Version NV1.15E N010+

5) Customer Version DIAMANTA3000 V1.0

6) Load Vendor ID 9929D04E

7) Load Product ID 59V1.500P2819B77

8) Rating Level PSW 7890

So I guess by setting to GLOBAL REGION I can view any region specific DVD then? Or would I have to change manually to the desired one when wanting to watch say, and American (reg1) one or a australian one (reg4).....?

Top help that tho
