Default Gearbox ratios..

Right, could someone try and answer this please?

My mate has a mk6 Orion, which once had a 1.6 Zetec (90bhp) engine.

He's now put a XR3i 130bhp engine in, and he has a TD gearbox. It's still running on the 1.6 management though.

He was running like 13s 0-60 but then still beating my mk6 Escort 1.6 Zetec (which runs 10.9 0-60 with 17s on) in a race upto about 95 (for him, 85ish for me).

How exactly will the diesel gearbox affect his performance?

He's getting lower speeds in each gear (28 in 1st where he used to get 32, 55 in 2nd where he used to get 61 etc) compared to his old engine.. n generally I'm quite confused

What -should- he be running 0-60? (The XR3i is meant to be about 8.5 to 60?). What speeds -should- he be getting in each gear?

Thanks in advance chaps
Duncan.

1.6 management is going to make the engine go pop - it'll underfuel badly at top end afaik, although Stu @ MSD on here will be able to give you proper info (what I know about EEC-IV could be written with a crayon on a postage stamp ).

Your mate badly needs to go up to the 130ps management and sensors

it will DIE on the 1.6 management!
not sure about the box to be honest.. i know the 1.8 diesel boxes (from cvh's) have longer gears than RST ones and hence slower acceleration but i have no idea what the ratios are like in mk5 boxes from your info i would ge#uess that he would have improved 0-60 times..
