Default 95.9mph = 11 points. WTF?!?!?!

From todays Essex Chronicle, Page 27:

"Driver clocks up 95.9mph

Paul Peacock, 23, of ****** Way, ****** ***, was recorded by Police Vascar driving a Ford Mondeo at an average of 95.9mph on the 70mph stretch of the A130, Rettendon, at midday on December 14th 2003.

He was banned from driving for 28 days and given 11 penalty points together with a £130 fine and £35 costs."

You have got to be f*cking joking.

There had better have been some sort of aggravated circumstances (i.e. he was driving like a ****) - if not then what the f*ck is this world coming to.

The A130 is possibly the safest road in essex, seeing as it has no turnings/pedestrians/horses/etc etc etc

I got 3 points and 60 quid (fixed penalty) for 100.1 mph on the M20, did have some slight mitigating circumstances though. Was going back to germany, then off to Iraq!! This was the day after I'd bought my cossie!!!!

in the netherlands you will loose you drivers licence when you are speeding 50km/h and more to fast. and the fine...at least 400euros(250pounds)

but the drivers lic. you will loose it for the first time...10days
second time a littlebit longer (months)
third time........well dont let it come this far.

You dont know if there was any other circumstances/previous history that he had.

I got done for doing 97.8 on a 60 mph dual carraigeway, down the A505 royston bypass, got 5 points, £270 fine with £45 court costs, first offence though.

Like I said you can't get both, your mate got the points for the offence which then lead to banning under totting up...

Mate of mine got 6 points and fine for doing 103mph in a 1.3 Proton Compact.

Don't think they banned him as they were so impressed the piece of crap got up to that speed

I got 3 points and a £60 fine for 94.6

Cop told me I was lucky and that if it had gone over 95mph I would be facing a ban

I was actually doing 120mph, but all he could show was AVERAGE speed

i think the most important word on there is AVERAGE.

he could have been doing 130mph for half a mile then 70mph when he spots the copper, = avg speed of 100mph

Well perhaps someone made a mistake........

An ex mate of mine got caught doing 85mph in a 40mph limit........

Sure enough it went to court and was given a 7 day ban and six points on his license. (to be honest I thought that was a good result all things consider!)

My mate was pissed off to say the least at getting the points but was not concerned at all by the ban. Anyway his solictor smiled at my mate and said no problem they have made the usual common mistake as they are not allowed to give both. His license which had be endorsed there and then by the court was promptly sent back as fews days later to the CPS with a letter explaining their error, the license was returned with the points removed.

True story and not a hear say made up load of bollocks. They key thing was that he was given both for the SAME offence. Are you sure your were not given two seperate punishments for two seperate offences ? For example speeding and dangerous driving ?

Dan

James, are you really that stupid? (The answer is obviously yes! ).

Try looking at your driving license and then report back !

I got caught slowing down on the A130 at 98mph
I got 3 points and £60 fine, because ''my car looked well capable of doing that speed safely, and I was n't driving dangerously, but he had to do his duty''
