AFR meter....
......cheers i am used to the wideband motec gold box set up....so had never looked into the narrow bands.
Seems strange they are of no use i would guess the mixture comming out would show a vague idea surely?

Phil, they are of no use for mapping a car on boost, but are vaugely useful for checking that a car is running economically at part throttle.
People sell them because people buy them, not because they are very useful.
The narrow band sensor is basically only guarenteed as reliable as a switch around 14.7 AFR
So if will show you if you are above or below 14.7 AFR but it wont accurately tell you how much by!

What they both said
Narrowband will clearly never be any substitute for wideband, and can not be considered as a tuning tool as such in that it won't indicate any sort of AFR accuracy except around 14.7:1 as already said..
BUT - if you take a wider view, it can be useful to tell you if anything is going wrong... if it's running rich on light load it will be obvious, if it's running lean on boost it will be obvious, by which i mean seriously lean... I've had a boost pipe come of the Fuel pressure reg. for example, or if the fuel pump has a big problem..

So of use to actually detect a major failure before it happens!!!
Thats all thats needed to know...this new car has one really neat install so i wont bother taking it out.For serious stuff the GGR innovative wide band unit is being used
