Pictures don't lie.
So for a while now I have been "happy" with my weight even though it is 24 stone (I lost a stone last week!) and didn't really think I was fat.
Yesturday I got news that I can finally move house so I went out with my friends to say goodbye and some pictures were taken.
OMG
So set one of these as desktop wallpaper.
For reference the girl in blue recently gave birth...
Honestly can't believe I have been walking around like this.
My car looks good (to the right), my friends look good...and I look fucking terrible.
What is the quickest way to lose weight then!?
I am waiting on blood test results for diabetes but doctor thinks it is anxiety attacks.
Thanks

hi mate, for starters you have made the hardest decision by facing up to your weight problem.its going to be hard to start with but when you start to see results it will unlift your commitment to carry on.
first of all look at your diet and join a gym speak to an instructor to work you out a programme with cardio and weights
best of luck to you

healthy eating for starters, plenty of fresh fish, salads without dressings! fruits etc.
then light cardio for starters, no need for a gym, go for walks in the park, or take up a low impact sport like golf, buy a half decent bike for around Ł100 and get out on it every night for half hour, try walking instead of driving short journeys etc. weight will fall off mate

You don't need to make huge changes to make a big difference. I lost about 3 stone last year by eating mostly the same foods but less of them, increasing the salad/veg ratio on your plate, snacking on fruit instead of chocolate and crisps and going for a brisk short walk most evenings.
I also bought a fancy food steamer which I cook a lot of meals in, fat free chicken curries etc which the take away version is what made me fat in the first place! Get yourself the 2 hairy dieters books by the hairy bikers. Loads of great recipes in there and tips for a healthier eating aimed at men who love food.

Bit worried about my health now TBH. My doctors surgery is a bit shit, so I had my blood test results back today. No diabetes, everything perfect except high white blood cells (used to fight a cold etc) except I have no cold and haven't had a cold for a long time.
I asked for advice on how I could figure out why, internet points to either Hepitatus C or leukemia, both of which I can be tested for, Doctor just said "don't worry" and ended the phone call before I had a chance to ask anything else.
Only I have been having all the symptoms of diabetes for MONTHS now which are also the symptoms of hep-c and leukemia.
I get this distinct impression that he doesn't give a shit but because on the NHS you have to start at your docs - if I do have a problem, there is nothing I can do about it?

Go back to the docs and ask to see someone else. I imagine they did not test for hep or leukimea, so say you are concerned and want more tests.
Go from there.
With regards to loosing weight, eating is the biggest thing. If you dont eat it, you done need to burn it off. But ANY exercise you do to increase your heart rate etc will help imprrove fitness.
I weighed about 13 stone a few months ago. I have not drank any alcohol for 4 months now, tried to eat healthier etc and have been cycling a lot. Bought a new road bike 2 months ago and done 320 odd miles on it so far. But it was. Ł2k bike lol. You dont need to spend anywhere near that tho.
I also ride mtb when i can which was extra to the above.
Anyway, i got down to 12st6... And now 12st11 - but i have lost a bit of flab from around my belly, and cycling i guess doesnt really help that.but my leg muscles are bigger lol
Running is good. But I am not built for running at all!
Swimming also very good as is just fast walking. Anything really.
Hth bud

Fucking stupid question.
It's a profit and loss account.
Eat less exercise more. FLOL.
Wish my bank balance was as in profit as my waist.
As you know John I've been everything from super fit to super fat and everything in between so despite the state of me I do know what I'm on about and the only piece of advice worth listening to is find something improves you slowly that is sustainable. 99 percent of people who go at it too hard give up, so just set yourself some realistic food and exercise targets and stick to them. Don't go at it so hard it becomes a massive chore and unsustainable.

That is the wierd thing as the last few months I have been eating next to nothing and walking the dog daily and it has not been dropping. So then I get depressed and binge eat!
One big viscious circle!
How did you lose so much, martial arts wasn't it? I will see into that when I move house

No mate, shit loads of exercise (7 miles a day of jogging) and hardly any calories was how I dropped massively in a short period a few years ago.
Martial arts helped me to maintain weight though, just cause its regular exercise etc, but any physical hobby would potentially do the same.

Was in the same boat mate, went to 17 which i felt horrible at, took me a year and a half but now im 12.4 I feel much happier, but its so hard to stay motivated at the start mate, keep the food nice and healthy, cut the calories and try change your eating times up a little. Try a smaller lunch and a earlier tea, no later than 6, then its got time to burn most of it off. Try get on a cross trainer, bit easier on the joints than running at the start but you can burn a sh*t load on them. Try keep at it mate and after the first noticeable results it just becomes your routine other than forcing yourself to do it.

Having a bad night at the moment. I feel like I am drunk except I never drink.
All the symptoms of a heart attack, all the symptoms of a migraine and all the symptoms of an anxiety attack too.
I tried to go to bed and I was just lying there with my head feeling heavy and the world inside my head (ie when you shut your eyes) spinning round anti clockwise.
That has gone now but I feel really tired / fatigued and like I am going to vomit, keep having hot and cold sweats.
Trouble is you google this and it is everything from massive internal bleeding to heart attack to AIDS to a simple cold....
FML I feel literally like I am going to die, the only thing I haven't had yet is chest pain.
I am 28 on tuesday and worried I am not going to make my birthday at all.
Oh and weight wise I have lost a stone since I started this thread.

No change when standing up.
So I cut caffiene out 36 hours ago, and coincedentally have had none of the symptoms for 36 hours.
Caffiene is known to produce anxiety attacks which is what I am hoping all this has been.

Still got the symptoms. Major anxiety attack last night in bed, literally thought I was about to die. Feeling it now too. It seems when I am ready to go to bed and all the thoughts of work etc leave my brain, I start worrying about stuff.
I have a question though, I have been walking twice a day and doing a great diet, losing half a stone a week... is there anything I can do exercise wise that is moderate but lengthy? Scared of raising my heartbeat significantly incase I have a heart attack.
Thanks

Swimming is very good but will get the heart rate up a fair bit.
do you have a bike? just getting out and going for a ride, keep it flat as possible and you should be able to do a few miles. go at your own pace and dont try to be a hero and you should be ok.
other than that stick to walking, maybe up the pace slightly or just walk further.
have you been to the doctors yet?

Thanks to everyone who helped (and the PM's).
So it is my oesophaegus - because i am overweight my stomach pushes food and acid up into my gullet.
They took my heart rate, pulse and blood pressure, all great apparently, apparently my blood pressure is perfect and better than the doctors or so he said.
If I get the pain I try to burp and the pain goes away. Not had anxiety attack since
