I have wondered about that. I didn't even give it mind space at the time though.. Was 100% fixated on getting that 1 rep drilled.
Had a bit of fun maxing out on reps on 100kg afterwards. Managed 24.. Fook me that's hard going after a while.. Had to start tucking the elbows in to get the tris to do more once the pecs were fried

Thanks mate, sadly Darran's car was left in a right shit state after the program.
It was taken to MAd to get the engine sorted. Darran has currently got it back for a full respray then as I understand it- it's going back to MA developments to get the new (big spec) engine fitted and mapped etc

Any idea why you vary so much day to day mate? Amount of food/rest perhaps?

Had the time of due to the birth of our second child still a bit pointless training really as I'm not getting enough sleep!

I've never tried just one rep before.

I bench 3 plates for 6 to 8 reps

What did you weigh back then?

You should try mate.. Good to push the boundaries once in a while!
6-8 on 140kg would put you firmly up at 160+ for a 1rm I reckon. You may have to work it up for a few weeks though to fire up your fibre recruitment.

I weighed around 106kg iirc

I vary cos I only really 'play' at it mate, life and work get in the way. I don't eat enough and I'm not strict with what I do eat. I try to be sensible with food, but working shifts etc it can be a right royal pain.

I train alone, like a Billy no mates and so most of my lifting is on machines, Smiths etc just for my own safety

170 is a big PB for anyone you definitly had 1-2 more to push, I'm trying for 130kg at the moment, do you eat natural for your needs or have shakes

You have done great getting to that stage and i agree with the above there was defo another rep in that.My personal best was 3 reps at 135kg and that was bloody hard work then i used to rep 100kg out.My mate plays football and weights 12st and can do one rep at 195kg.Whats your plan now to carry on going heavier and pass 200kg?Ive not trained in a yr now and growing back into it slowly.
