Hi All,

Done a nice 68 mile trip today on the MTB, all road riding with a few mates.

30 miles in my right leg started to tighten on the outside at the back of the knee.

What muscle is this please and can you advise what would be good with regards to stretch please.

I remember cyclists at my work talking about this and recommend something like sodium and magnesium tablets and obvioulsy keep yourself well hydrated.sounds like your hamstring has a tweak in it.youtube will have lots of good excercises or stretching aswell.

I think I drank just over 1 litre on the ride but never put the usual few cracks of sea salt in with the drink. So maybe that contributed to the leg pain?

Googled the muscle and it is the Biceps Femoris that had the constant pain, going to rest it till Thursday and keep hydrated in the mean time.

Will also try an do a small warm up prior to pushing it

I'm not too clued up on cycling and cramps Etc mate but as said guys at my work are really in to it and they were talking about which tablets they take to help with cramps.quick google should help out but I'm sure they mention something about sodium tabs.
