Default Gym routine question???

Am having a discussion with a gym buddy of mine.
He works different parts of the body each session,arm and shoulder 1 day,legs and back the next day and so on.

I prefer to work all the body every session 3 times a week .Monday,Wednesday and Friday so body has time to recover.

My mate trains Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday ,Thursday and Friday so couldn't do my circuit type method.

Which would you say is the best method ,obviously he trains more days but its the method we are talking about not who does more.

I much prefer one body part once per week or i sometimes train arms twice.no way could I train back or legs more than once the way I train them as my legs can still be sore 3 days later.

You training for size or fitnees?

IMHO doing the whole body every session is not breaking down the muscles enough to enable growth as you do not train each bodypart with the intensity required. So for size one or two bodyparts a session. For fitness, toning, fatloss etc then I see no problem with a fulll body session.

As Kieron and stevenebm, one part per day and smash it. I also do arms twice a week though and generally have one rest day. Find full body routine are OK for maintaining condition so if its gonna be a busy week I may do more than one body part per session.

I chose to do 3 gym sessions a week
Monday = chest , tri,s +abs
Wednesday =legs ,Shoulders +forearms
Friday= back ,bi,s and abs

30 minutes of hit cardio,bike + cross trainer after every workout.

It,s working out great and seeing great gains.

If your seeing gains then great, everybody responds in different ways.
I train one body part a day, Mon to Thurs and sat mornings...more to do with diet than lifting weights.

100% agree,a fit looking muscular body is built through diet not weights.
Have changed my diet completely to get best results.
You can't out train a bad diet.
