Default Best way to gain weight ?

Iv been trying to eat a lot more recently to try and gain weight (22y/o + 10.2 stone) =not good in my books.....

Im a skinny guy, but trying to gain weight just isnt happening atm... iv tried eating but i have no apetite, it was bad when i smoked weed tbh...but now iv given that shit up for good, it seems to have gotten worse and i now find myself starving throughout the day and constantly having no energy to do things :\

Been trawling the web last few days for info and stuff..... and all i seem to find is mixed Opinions on whats best to eat, others dis-agreeing with what others have said.., and people chatting utter shite...

I also find myself constantly going through cupboards and fridge/freezer to find the same boring crap - chips/beans/fish fingers/burgers etc....

Just wondering really if anyone on here has had same kinda thing happen to them, and if you solved it, how did you do it ??

Are there any Guaranteed ways to gain weight/any certain foods i can eat ??

i dont mind making stuff, i just dont have that brainpower to think of what to make... or im not a masterchef lol..need to put weight on pronto, cant stand being skinny anymore......

All suggestions/advice is welcome and greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Matt.

I swear by full fat milk.when I was natural and trying to put on weight I was drinking so much of it.made my own shakes of
100g oats
50g whey
Tablespoon olive oil
250-300ml full fat milk.
Eat what isn't nailed down.at that weight I'd be seriously on the dominos pizzas etc along with my healthy meals.

Pretty much what's been said, eating crap is fine, but you'll need to cap how much fat you're taking in as you'll soon acquire a belly

Pasta, Chicken, Potato. Hi Carbs is what you need. I would watch just eating shit (pizza etc). You want to bulk out, not gain fat so get to the gym with protean skakes etc and run some weights up concentraiting on the areas you need bigger (chest)

You want to go careful, would rather be too skinny than too fat.

To be fair, pizza isn't bad, especially making your own, depending what you put on it obviously lol.

You just need to eat a lot more calories, and putting a bit of fat on at this weight won't harm you at all, and at least you know your eating enough, always better than too little. I wouldn't bother with pizzas and whatever, regardless of your weight mate. Eat loats of healthy foods, and lots of them.

You need lean beef, chicken breast, turkey breast, tuna, and other good sources of protein. Eat lots of brown rice, oats, sweet potatoes and other good sources of carbs'. Even though your bulking, you still need the best carbs' to ensure your protein is being digested and absorbed in the best way.

Buy a good total protein source and some blended oats to put into your shakes, to help you get a good meal replacement for when you can't eat, or don't want to eat so much.

Its the apetite thing im more concerned about,, i WANT to eat, but can never think of what TO eat that we have in the house...

Got some chicken, some chicken slices, turkey breast slices, loads of tuna and pasta.... Iv just made pasta with tuna and salad cream, its the bomb....

Currently looking on the web for the best shakes for gainign weight/bulking up,...... but theres so many to choose from,, How do u tell what ones are the best for what im trying to achieve ?

Gonna start making shakes with oats and full fat milk too as Steve said, do i just mix the shakes with whatever they say to mix it with- eg milk or water, and then just simply add the oats and whey to the mix ?

Never really been health-conscious before until now, everyones getting fat or hench and im still skinny lol... only now am i realising how un-fit i am

Thanks Benni

To multi quote in one post its the tab next to the single quote. It will turn red to show you which posts you are quoting and will go in the order you click them in.

Then click the post reply bottom left near the Facebook like tab.

Pasta is probably the easiest meal ever.. Boil up whichever you fancy, spaghetti, twists, penne (tubes). Get a tin of chopped tomatoes, put them in another pan crush abit of garlic, salt n pepper, worchester sauce if you like it, some dried or fresh herbs and you got a lovely meal. Not high in bad fats either. Then once you got a basic thing you can start adding like tuna or prawns, or chicken.

or drop the tomato and use a dollop of mayo with sweetcorn and tuna n black pepper. Dead easy mate just dont over think things..

There is a million brands you could buy and a lot are not worth buying. You want a known brand, ideally not too cheap as it will have lower quality proteins or fewer grams per serving etc.

There is also the GOMAD 'diet'. Stands for gallon of milk a day. About 5 litres of full fat milk. On body building forums (many american) rave about it. But be prepared to be skint..

Also you could try the 5/6 meals a day diet. Things like a chicken, broccoli and sweet potato, steak broccoli and sweet potato, a piece of fish (cod, salmon, tuna steak etc.) green beans and rice 5/6 times a day.

Or eat alot of egg based meals.

But alot of the nurtrition and gaining will be pointless if you dont exercise with it.

I wouldn't bother buying a weight gainer shake mate, as I don't think there's one available that's as good as what Steve makes himself. Maybe change the olive oil to flaxseed oil, and go for a total protein, but that's about all I'd do.

Get yourself a blender mate, stick 300ml of milk into it and work out from the scoop size how much of each to add to the mix, blend and enjoy. Add more or less milk to get it how you want it, so it's not too thick or thin!

I used to get chocolate mint, and with oats it was like a Mint Aero milkshake, genuinely tastey.

I used to be like you, when I was 18/19 I was around 10.5 stone and I'm just over 6ft. I have a high motabolism and was never putting on any weight.

Now I'm 24 and exactly 14 stone, my upper body has filled out alot more espeically around my neck and shoulders.

As for how to gain weight, literally eat anything you can get your hands on as it doesn't matter at your weight. I had tried various weight gainer shakes an never found they made a difference at all.

The kind of foods I was eating were:

Steak, chickin, pizza, shit loads of pasta, tuna, greek yoghurt, cheese, full fat milk. Snacking on crisps and cakes throughout the day.

Make sure you get some healthy meals in there as well and don't forget your greens!

I wouldn't over-eat, because you're going to add too much fat I think! There's nothing in crisp that will benefit you, so I wouldn't eat them as a part of my muscle gaining, but snacking on them won't harm you as such, if you're trying to add size, but they won't benefit you.

If you can eat healthy all year round, which is damned hard, I would and just eat more of it when bulking. Too many people put on 3 stone in a year and think it's all muscle. You'll be doing amazing to put on 10 pounds of lean muscle in a year, and then the next year, and then the next year and so on... 5 years down the line you've got some nice size.

If the aim is to have a great physique at the end of it, clean bulking is the easiest option in the long run. All in my opinion of course.
