I want to lose the fat round my abs too. My abs are getting more and more solid since I started working out properly and going gym and also have doubled in weights that I crunch. I had my appendix removed so started crunching 30kg but I can do (slightly on the limit) 65kg now but its soo annoying when I know some people can only do 40kg that go to my gym and have abs that show. mine dont unless I proper tense.

I run a couple of miles 5 days a week. Helps keep me fit and keep weight off cuz I have a slow metabolism!
I find the morning is def the best time to do it, you feel refreshed and as mentioned above you burn th most calories! Just couldn't be bothered doing it after I leave the office!

I find that eating small amounts but regularly helps a lot, if you start missing meals and starving yourself your body won't know when your next meal is coming so when you finally do eat it tries to hold onto it all.
Maybe eat every 3 hours but like i said just little things, an apple here and there etc, and always have a breakfast!!
But like everybody has said, the only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you but into your body

one which is a real fat burner which i now do twice a week is power walking on the treadmill where you can set it so that it inclines and declines after two mins ,do a power walk for at least ten mins and you will lose around 200 calories and also tone your backs of your legs and bum aswell as lose fat, believe me this works if you put your mind to it!

Or put an incline in and run for 10 mins thus burning way over 500 cals.
I would suggest light weights with high reps, long distance jogging and general cardio.

exercise and low fat intake.
it's the ONLY way to do it. fad diets simply lose you water and muscle tissue. these get put straight back on at the slightest bit of over indulgence.
i troff myself silly at the weekends, having about 4- 5 take aways/ meals out, but eat pretty well all week when training and do plenty of exercise, wether it's going on the tread mill for an hour or going for a ride on my bike (the missus lol)
im 16 stone, 6ft 3" with a 32" waist.

As everyone has said, you need to do plenty of cardio, but rather than just eat less, you have to ensure that you are eating around 300 less calories than you burn during a day (e.g. if your training hardish you may burn 3000+ cals, so need to reduce this down by 300kcal).
In terms of runs before breakfast, yes you may burn more fat due to lower glycogen levels from not eating all night, but if you run at too higher intensity, your fat stores will deplete rapidly and then you begin using protein (i.e. the structure of muscle), in addition you will be drained and your performance will be crap. Optimum use of fat as a fuel is around 65-70% of maxhr, which is a very steady jog, so work at this intensity!

At work I often get sent otu to get food for the rest (lol ) and also to Hexagon BMW and Renault which isnt too far from where I work for parts and to take messages (again ). I always jog to these places and I try to jog anywhere I can during the day, every day. I manage about 10-15mins worth of jogging which equates to roughly mayb 80-90kcals.

the only way to loose fat properly is to eat less crap and exercise more , cut out all the processed crap like maccy D's, chips, currys, pizza, and watch your carbs, don't go mad like the atkins diet, but limit the sugar you eat to a small amount, cut down the beer. Lots of water, fresh veg/ fruits, lean meat like turkey, venison etc - try to stay away from fried food, and all the bad stuff.
Do a balanced work out, AT LEAST 45 mins 4 times a week cardio at about 65%-75% effort, ( % of your max heart rate, your age taken off 220 gives your ideal heartrates) is the best for fat burning, (you should still be able to hold a conversation is a good general guide if you are not using a heart rate monitor) any more intense and you go into aerobic training, not burning fat just making your repitory system work harder and getting that fitter.
Rad is right as well, weights burn fat as more muscle= more cals burnt, less body fat. If you are just starting out, target the big muscles like abs, biceps, thighs etc as they will give you the best gains in a short time
