i've got a mark 4 1.4 zetec fiesta, it was misfiring for a couple of weeks, then coughed out black smoke and wouldnt idle.. now i've changed the fuel filter and it ran reasonably well for about an hour, now its cut and wont start. the fuel pump isnt even priming. any help with this problem would be much appreciated

I'd start by checking the fuel pump relay and fuse followed by a wiring check then finally the fuel pump itself.....

 

As above.....
Check you have power to the pump and then it is a process of elimination.....
No power to pump - check wiring, fuses, relay
If there is power to pump - pump probably dead
