Fiesta ST 2.3 Duratec
Ive seen a ST forsale fitted with a 2.3 for a decent price and looks like it may be a fun daily/track toy, has anyone any experiance with this conversion. My main thought would be how the gearbox would cope with the extra torque.
|
I'm told that part of the reason for it been limited to 150bhp was because the box isnt the strongest. Mind i'v got 175bhp and mine is fine. but dont know how 200+ would be.

The diff is the weak link, if its got a lsd it should be ok

The spec is
2.3L new block supertek pistons new style vvti head (needs some mapping to get it working to the best of its ability) milltek 4-1 evo manifold, decat, un-resignated rear section. (200cell milltek cat included) K&N 57i 60mm throttle body bosh super 4 spark plugs oil filter sandwich plate ( 2 free ports for oil cooler kit or temp gauge) custom Chizfab solid track mounts. Gearbox; larger syncro cones, and bigger bearings on 1 2 3 gears. FRP Limited slip diff vibra-technics torque restrictor |
Standard management wont cope with VVT from memory - does he just mean its the later focus 2.3 head?
Gearboxes are well known for giving up the ghost especially with a lot of abuse - they can be changed for better boxes though. |
Im not sure to be honest I think it was a pumaspeed build, I take it the VVT can be blanked off ? I do have an OMEX 600 ecu lying so could switch to that.
I wouldnt be interested in starting ot fit MTX boxes and the like if it would mean custom shafts and mounts. |
You do need custom shafts and mounts but i provide a bolt on conversion - pm me if you have questions or want more details mate.
