Default Best Oil for FRST

Hi all

At the weekend i've done an oil and filter change and used Ford Formula S 5-40 only now the car sounds tappy/rattly.

I've previously used mobil 1 15-50 and castrol rs 10-60 with no problems at all but its a struggle to get hold of it.

Whats the best oil to use?

The engine has covered under 11 thou miles.

Thanks

Dave

A fully synthetic 5w or 10w oil should be used, well thats what i have used since 1997

I would agree, a proper synthetic 5w-40 or 10w-40 is the correct oil.

Could the rattling be a tappet that's sticking?

I've only had this 5w-40 ford stuff in since saturday. QUite a few people swear by it!

Thanks

Dave

Could be as there is nothing wrong with the viscosity.

Always been told to use 15-50 Fully synthetic Mobil 1 to help keep it quiet. Seems to work fine for me

What did a synthetic do to your engine to kill it?
