You would assume that if they were modded to the same spec then the Fiesta would have a slight edge being a smaller lighter car.

depends on the driver, if its wet or dry, etc..

the fez does have a weight advantage tho.

Here is an example for you lot a mate of mine called tom had a series2 completely standard engine apart from the usual forge double capacity intercooler, exhaust, filter and chip. The series2 made 197hp at 17psi and was fast as fook. Me other mate had a fiesta with the following mods superchip, exhaust and filter running 16psi. When the 2 raced the escort pissed all over him. So me mate went out and bought a pace cooler and a piper t2 cam to get the edge on tommy. His theory being mine now has MORE done to it and is lihghter so will now beat tommys. Guess what happened tommy still pissed all over him. I think the MAIN advantage is the bigger turbo of the escort. O and i have both a standard fez and a standard s1 and i would say the fez was deffo quicker. So make of my experiences what you will

If they are specced exactly the same ie turbo and LSD included then simple laws of motion dictate the lighter one would win.

There are a lot more factors involved than power/weight. What about traction, aerodynamics etc . There is more to traction than a lsd, i mean surely the longer wheelbase of an escort would help and the way the suspension is set up will play a big factor. O and as if there speced the same no 2 cars are alike i mean its like saying i have a standard turbo engine with a stage 3 turbo, exhaust, filter and chip all identical to me mates so mine should be the identical hp as his, it dont work like that

The problem with comments like that is what were the specs of the cars you had beaten. Like i said above i am coming from an unbiassed view as i own both and imo the escort is a far better car in all aspects. That is just my opinion though by the way Look at the 2 top speeds for rsts both fiestas

i heard the fezzie chassy (sp) couldnt cope with the power as well so was more prone to torque steer... surely this would put the escort abov a fezz, also as mentioned the lsd and t3...
