Default My Dutch Turbocharged Fiesta

Hi there,

Some of you might know/recogonize me.. if not..probably my car.. lol

I'm Jur from Holland and a Fiesta enthousiast for some years now.

I previously owned 2 other fiesta's .. An XR2, which i owned for about 2 years .. and an XR2i which was wrecked due to someone who wasn't paying attention on the road )-:

My current fiesta is my 3rd one.. and has been fully stripped a few years ago.. to rebuild (not to restore)

The origin of my fiesta was a '92 Red Fiesta 1.8i S (A Dutch model)
XR2i 8v interior, 1.8 16v 105 BHP engine.. and nothing special ...

The car had some wing damage and was resprayed into a different colour, fitted with alloys, skirts, FRST bumpers etc etc etc.. and fitted with a 1.6 CVH EFI Turbo engine from a UK donor fiesta.

After the first build it was re-stripped to become what it is right now...

(that's the short version .. hahaha)
Been to some UK shows the last couple of years (FF and FITP)

Featured in 2004 in a Dutch Car tuning Mag.. and in the 2006 Summer edition of FF

Shortlist of specs:
- 92 Fiesta 1.8i S, now in colour "Deep Violet"
- 1.6 CVH EFI turbo (standard compression)
- T3 conversion
- Pace intercooler
- Kent CVH35 camkit
- Motorsport leads
- PiperX Cos airfilter
- Ahmed Bayjoo 175 chip (on 0FAC management)
- Hybrid exhaust (Scorpion T3 downpipe, Magnex middle section, Skytune Dual Exit backbox
- FRST bodykit, smoothened and partionally into the shell
- Mondeo estate modified and smoothened rear spoiler
- delocked doors, and flushed boot (except for lock and whiper)
- Mk1 chrome doorhandles
- Clear lights all round (no lexarse style)
- Smooth badboy bonnet
- Tinted windows
- Koni/Apex lowered (30mm)
- Mondeo ST24 MKII aloys with Dunlop SP 9000 Sport 195/40R16's
- Mondeo callipers and discs in front, RS2000 brakesetup at the rear
- Half leathered FRST interior, combined with black carpeting and silver details etc..
- Decent stereo (Polk/JBL/Sony) (incl bootbuild and 6 3/4" doorpods)
- Blue dashlighting, incl buttons and extra Guages
- Lots of chrome to buff under the bonnet

Enjoy and comment where necessary ..

Yes,

Those are Mondeo MKII ST24's ..
I've had some Puma 5 'leafs' on before, but these caught the Mondeo (cos4x4) calipers.. so had to change.. and wanted a set of these a long time.. Like you said.. it's something different.. although those 5 spokes look good too (-:

Something else..
On the pictures the fiesta is still leaning a bit backwards..
.. This has been raised a bit compared recently.. to level out with the front (-:

Default It's been a while

It's been a whilse since i've been on here.
Some personal reasons why i was not able to put the time into my project..
(Renovating the inside/outside of our house, getting married, the birth of our first child etc)

Haven't been to the UK since Fiesta in the Park 2006, but also that will change as we've planned a long weekend in the UK, and visit Ford Fair 2008.. (with our club Ford Team Zuid-Holland) .. .so might see you all there..

But.. now it's time for some updates.

In the last year...
- Lowered the frontbumper using a Renault Laguna Splitter, underneath the MCrallying splitter.
- Placed a baileys (black powdercoated) oil breather
- Raised the back of the car (removed the -30mm and placed some FRST standard items) to get the car level again (front is still lowered using -30mm apex springs)
- replaced the (not yet rusted) rear quarter window bolts.. by Inox ones (not those aluminium ones you can buy in ebay, but proper inox ones, made by "hessel" of Fiestaclub.nl)
- Replaced a cracked front fog light (a mint set is hard to find in Holland)
- Replaced the alloy fuel cap (with seperate key) for the standard Ford item, but with Inox cover.

But the most important part for me.. the engine got setup finally (after 5 years)
- 0FAC management with an Ahmed Bayjoo chip running standard injectors, cossie fuelpump.. and doing 198,5 BHP and 213ft/lb of torque... @ 15 psi and still running within the safty margins of fueling.

The front now looks like this (on a cloudy day)

LOW down:

The rear quarter window bolts: (using my old phone)

Leveled the car, using standard rear coils, still driveable.. and low

Fitted the breather:

Fuelcap before... and after:

have made some changes since 2 months ago.

- Bought a set of MINT FRST doorcards, modded them to fit the 6,5" speakers.. and fitted them
- got a Puma gearknob, polshed it.. to replace the oldskool allow RS gearknob.
- raised the back a bit, for some trips across the english channel
- Got a fresh MOT, without changing the CO-screw (-:
- gave the car a good polish (after a year or so *shame*)
- Fitted some alloy chargecarrier bolt/rings (bought @ Ford Fair)

What's next:
- Finishing the garage, so it sits nice, dry and ventilated, in stead of a bit damp, and non ventilated
- Get some Inox hoseclamps

and finally . get some more time to drive the fine fester (-:

Default 3 years since

I've either lacked updating here..... or It's been 3 years since i last update this topic )-:

What happened:
After setting up the engine (resul 198 BHP and 289NM of torque (some 240LB/ft) engine wise not much has been done. As we had bought a house, with garage, we had a lot of work to do rebuilding the place
Garage is now insulated (and well ventilated) so the fiesta has a dry place to stay
The house renovation is nearly completed (need some new windows and roof-gutters )or whatever you call them) replaced. The rest is done (kitchen, bathroom, floors, insulation, heating etc)

I've been collecting some tuning parts over the few years for the MK3.
Been tidying the MK6 facelift ZS of the wife (with Eibachs, Milltek, Ultra rear lamps etc) but recently traded that one in for a brand new 11 Fiesta 1.25 82BHP 5 door Titanium fiesta.

For the mk3 i've collected since 2008:
- Powder coated gearbox beam and fixings
- ERST S2 Gearbox, recently rebuild (only covere 1000 miles since) which is nearly ready for some paint (the current gearbox has been rebuild 2 times since i have it, but for some reason lost 1 liter of oil.. causing the 5th gear to whine, and the 3rd gear to select hard or crunchy (synchro mesh gone probably) .. but will not be able to rebuild it anymore, cause 5th gear has been welded to the shaft (as i was told) .. everything else is OK in the gearbox, and still drives well, until the oil in the gearbox gets to operation temp. ...

- bought some items to modify the clutch pedal
- Fitted straight FRST doorcards which DO fit without opening at the top
- spark plugs (a full box of 10 as they didn't want to sell me just 4)
- cambelt (already replaced)
- Some new clear side repeaters
- Some new clear indicators
- Another set of white rear lamps (modified again, but now without drill dust)
- Set of ST150 brakes... already fitted, painted calipers (silver) and new pads.
- Polk DB08 grill for the 8"sub
- chrome bonnet hinges
- chrome (dual) boot cylinders. I modified the boot to have the 2nd cylinder on the left so the boot closes straight and when the car is repainted, the polyestered rear spoiler won't crack anymore.

@ Ford fair this year:
- Picked up a B&M shortshifter on the way..
- Bought some Poly strut top rubbers
- picked up a full (already modified) clutch pedal set
- some small bits.. (wheel wax, keychain for the new fiesta etc)

- B&M is already fitted, along with the powder coated gearbox beam, the freshly painted S2 gearbox.
A- lso the strut top rubbers have been replaced
- Fixed a small brake issue (calipers were's perpendicular to the discs, causing spongy braking and sticking pads.. )
- Got another fresh MOT, without issues (-:
The old gearbox beam

The new gearbox, prior to and during cleaning / painting

Dirty

After 1st clean (brake cleaner + toothbrush)

After 2nd clean (brake cleaner + brake cleaner + toothbrush)

first paint (hamerite silver)

2nd paint layer

the B&M shifter i picked up (thanx RS220BHP)

Modified it to not pass thru the engine vibration to much

New and old gearbox beam (thanx Razer)

Placed

B&M fitted

poly strut top rubber

the brake issue (see the vertical paint residu/lines) we needed to grind away, as the Fiesta ST150 calipers fixing points were larger then the available flat area
So for all you are doing the ST150 brake conversion .. check if the mounting surface of you hubs compared to the calipers lineup correctly .. otherwise you will get the same as i did.. .. which results in spongy feeling on the pedal and sqeeucky/hanging brakes,

Have been driving the car since .. well only to the Dutch European Ford Event in septerber '11

What a difference the B&M makes, wow.. now finally i can stay in the recaro in stead of getting out every time i have to shift to or from 5th gear (-: .. and give a rock solid shift .. only thing getting used to is that the gearbox has to do the actual shifting.. and i don't need to push to hard otherwise we get grinding teeth afterall.

But no more gearbox leakage, whine noise in 5th, or mis-shifts in or out of 3rd gear ..
The old gearbox (incl LSD) lies in the garage for spare parts (-:

What's next..
- save up for a respray (and fixing of the polyester cracks)
- Get hold of either a dash surround with guage pod, or a steering wheel cowling with guage pod .. for the stouch (air/fuel) meter i have lying around for 5 years.. or more..
- fit the modified clutch pedal
The clutch pedal modification (Ford had written a TSB about it) so that the automatic clutch adjustment can be locked into place.
This is adviced for all fiesta's with a 'clicking' clutch pedal.. but especially when using a heavier clutch (AP CP2000-8 for instance) as this mechanism seems to wear out fast when clicking every time. By locking the automatic adjustment, it will not click (and wear) anymore.
Downside, you'll have to release the adjuster, have the automatic adjuster do it's work and lock it back again every service interval .. but that's a 1 minute job.
- fit the chromed bonnet hinges

And.. thinking about how to fit clear front lamps.. with projector headlights in it..
I don't like the Polo 6n2 headlamp modification .. i've seen similair lamps to the fiesta.. so i can possibly use the lens from that .. and fit it to the fiesta mirror .. and then not use a h4 bulb, but place a projector headlamp inside.. (possibly HID/Xenon)

but that's something for the FAR future .. in about 5 years.. or so ..

My fiesta next to Andie's (Wiseman)

Only downside since that trip.. i have to replace the waterpump (after 8 years of good service) .... but that's just maintenance.. only covered 20.000 kilomteres in those 8 years.. (-: wich is around 13k miles. ... and it leave some drops of coolant under the car once i park it up ..

Will (once again) replace the cambelt and tensioning pully along the way (-:

What i was thinking of putting these alloys on, i got a lot of people commenting things like "don't do it.... it won't suit the car etc" ..
But once i had them on .... the only reactions i got (even from the same people) was similair like yours ..

and i say .. thank you (-: it's something different from the 5 spoke cossie look mondeo wheels you see around a lot ... and haven't seen them on another fiesta.. just yet (-:

The size (16" ET 40 7J) suits the fiesta very good, just minor adjustments were needed, but that was mostly to the modified front (and rear) brake setup
