You dont need the senser if your running on a dizzy mate and the S1 box will fit

~If its running a dizzy and coil it wont need the sensor, you can fit a S1 gearbox but the Twin coil setup is better

Yes it is something to do with having a better ignition curve, there was a big discussion on the advantages on the RSBB about this but i cant find it

the only problem is the availability of parts like the twin coils and the gearbox sensor (although there have been discussions about remaking these)

If you have the gearbox sensor and the wiring (i assume you still have the ecu under the dash? you need to check that ) all you need is the twin coils and the mounting bracket and someone who wire them back up, the common thing on the rsi when people convert to a dizzy is to just chop the coil wires and reconnect them to the dizzy and coil wires.

It is worth doing, and you will notice the difference

Is the ECU still under the dash? if so is there a plug and wires connected to it? i would think you still have the original wiring, check that the sensor lead is still connected (just follow it through to the inside) you may still have the original wiring its probrably just been bodged to run the dizzy and coil

So you are runninmg with a dizzy and coil ?

What is the ignition time on that ?? As I can't find the right time to set anywhere...

I got an XR3i (Lucas) dizzy wth vacuum advance, but I can't get the thing rnning right.... (it's now on 12 deg.)

Thanks !
