Default Best cleaning products?

Hi guys,

In your opinion which car cleaning firm produce the best products for individual cleaning jobs. ie best tyre shine is poorboys or best wax is meguiers etc etc

Would be good to use a variety of products to keep the car looking good instead of sticking with the full autoglim catalogue

Cheers Billy

Totally disagree!!

1) Autoglym super resin is the best at filling i have ever used

2) HD Wax is awesome and rivials wax's over double it's price and lasts 3 times as long

There is no one for all and every colour car requires different products to get the best from, ie dark cars - blues an blacks .... light cars - white's an silvers etc ........ wax's or true synthetics all give different finishs

Hope this helps

You haven't used many different products then!

Don't rate HD wax at all. There are far better waxes for much cheaper.

I do quite like SRP yes, it's a good, versatile product and I'll always have a bottle knocking around. Used some on my van the other day. There are far better products out there though for specific colours/finishes

LOL! I have used quite a few products thanks!

Cheaper than Hd Wax ? what ones ? i struggle to see it any differently it's a cheap wax for money too @ £25, did you prep the car properly? and what with ? you do get gassing if you don't use it correctly.

Glad you agree i am right about Autoglym super resin and also agree with me regarding different colour/finishes

I normally use Poorboys black hole as the polish, should i be using the Polish - Poorboys Professional Polish instead of the black hole and then just wax or all 3?

Black hole is excellent at filling, i would then seal it with a decent Wax or sealent

Yeah, I do, I black hole it one a month and seal it with a dodo juice wax.

You think its not needed to use the poor boys polish too?

Any wax is only ever as good as the prep. I used HD cleanser to try the whole package and see what it was like. It was definitely done properly.

Off the top of my head I would say that for around the same price or cheaper the following waxes are better (I totally agree that it depends on the colour/finish/hardness of paint and endless other factors):

Collinite 476s - Definitely far more durable. People only really talk about its durability, but I think it can give a nice finish too.

Collinite 915

R222

Pete's 53

Victoria Concours

Poorboy's Natty's - Will admit it's not the most durable wax in the world, but gives a great wet-look shine which you'd struggle to get with a lot of dearer waxes and it is the cheapest wax here.

Also you could get any number of Dodo Juice waxes for around the same price.

I think Billy RS will be confused by the end of this thread.

Everyone has thier own favourite products, not forgetting different colours often get different results with different products too.

Yes, that's exactly what it is, a filler.

Professionals don't want to fill, they want to correct the actual defect. AG stuff really isn't in the same league as the products first mentioned.

They are OK for everyday but after saying that the Meguiars stuff wipes the floor with them for that too.

It takes a while to get your car to a decent level paint finish wise but once it's there it becomes quite easy to maintain. In other words you wont have to use SRP every other week.

Have a go with Meguiars Ultimate compound instead of SRP, you'll see the difference

Hi just to add, I have had my own car Valeting business for some years now, have always used srp/radiant wax and HD Wax on various finishes and with the correct prep have always had good results, this is where it ends how ever. For correction of paint defects, swirls and holograms, I have been using the 4 stage process of 3M profet it 3 range. When used correctly with new or used paint and using the matched heads and cloths it gives the best depth and clarity of any paint finish I have ever seen. Far superior to any autoglym products and I have tried them all only to be disappointed. I would recommend to anyone 3M for detailing and paint correction, then HD Wax or wax of your choice to finish. Autoglym make good prep products however, clay kit, detailing spray, tar and glue, all great products, but as for there polishing products I find them dated when comparing them to megs and 3M. So to round up, autoglym make nice prep products, cheap and effective trim/plastic and tyre dressings, not so great paint polish, unless you want to be out there every week! In my opinion I would have a professional detail your paintwork once or twice a year, then use the correct cleaning methods and waxing methods to keep the paintwork swirl free for the rest of the time,
Just my opinion but I have a lot of customers that would agree
