pressure sprayer leaks
I decided to buy this sprayer:
http://www.silverlinetools.com/en-GB...atering/630070
upon receiving it the lance was missing, the seller quickly dispatched me a replacement. But my first use of it, I dont like it. It leaks from every orifice the solution can find, but mostly from the top funnel. It quickly fills up and gushes out onto the floor making my workstaion completely soaked.
I've done a google search and it appears to be a common problem, bu there's no answer to find how to repair it, theres loads of o rings and the pump unit itself is doused in grease. likely to stop fluid from entering the pump but its just rubbish.
Any ideas what is causing the leaks?

I was once told that you can soak the seals overnight in brake fluid to make them swell....don't know if true or if would kill them?

I've just stripped the pump down and the seal the main problem is the seal goes up and down the inner shaft thus being in constant movement and once stopped the fluid gushes up the inside of the pump and finds it way out. Ive got some pics to show how useless it is.

I've just tried another fix on it, I've removed all seals and replaced. All the factory grease applied to the internal of the pump has been removed leaving a slight film of grease that remains after a wipe down. I fit a grommet and the leak from the pump as seen above has finally stopped.
I now have a massive leak at the lance end, where there's no possibility of fitting a seal. PTFE tape has sorted the problem out.
It now currently works as it should, I'm happy now, but really shouldn't have had to spend all this time sorting it out. Still thats what you get for buying of eBay trying to save a few pounds not buying of the high street.

Thats very true. Lesson learnt, I thought they were meant to be an average brand at most. I did a little research, but seems it wasn't enough. At least its working ok for the time being, Til it packs up or the seals fail it can stay.
It was half tempted to go to my local B&Q and Wickes to see what they stock beforehand.
