Default High Running RAM....

I've noticed over the past few days that my RAM has been running at around the 50% mark, but today its constantly up around the 65-70% mark and it dosen't fluctuate

Any ideas why its so high? And what i can do to get it back down to the low 10's where it used to be?

Heres my system propities if thats any help?

You can see in the bar to the right hand side of the screen the dial showing the RAM running high.

Unless you can see its slowing down then i wouldnt worry, this is vista were talking about, it uses ALOT of ram.

Do you run many start up programmes? show me your task manager, control alt and delete

I said programmes not problems

I want to know what programmes you have running in the background, you might have loads of stuff you dont need and can be disabled, this will bring the ram usuage down

as above press control alt and delete and get task manager on the screen.

That will list everything running on the pc right now, maximize the window so i can see everything then take a screenshot.

To see what you have automatically loading up when you turn the pc on, click the start bar and type in "msconfig" in that little box at the bottom then you will see msconfig, click on that to open it, then click on the "startup" tab at the top and then take a screenie of this aswell and ill have a look

firefox sometimes does use a silly amount, but ive got 2Gbs of ram on my pc and it doesnt slow down at all so i dont give a shit how much it uses, id rather have a browser that uses more ram if it means its better than I.E

Well i can tell you know 85 processes is very high, when i had vista i had about 45-50, and on xp now im running 36.

Half of them are not showing because you needed to click "show all", but already i can see one or two things you can remove like itunes.

What you can do is when your bored or have time google each one and it will tell you what it is and if you can remove it, takes time but if your pc runs better its worth it

mine will usually sit at around 30-38% with just the start up programs running and shoot up to about 42-45% with IE and wmp running (i have 2 gig ram) it maybe that norton or another program has run an update which has installed additional programs/drivers to your system.

it could also be that you may of picked up a few unwanted programs (adware etc) so i'd do a full system scan to be safe

if your using norton, just make sure your not paying for it

Honestly id uninstall norton and install AVG, ive never had one single problem in the year ive been using it, and my pc is on the internet every single day. That should free up some ram straight away.

Also remove some processes, because 85 is ALOT as i said lastnight.
