Hi Everyone,
After Two and a half years of ownership, I have decided it is time to sell my 1991 J reg 4x4 Flint Grey Sapphire Cosworth.
As much as I like just looking at it, it has done less than 200 miles in the last 18 months and I just cannot justify keeping it sitting in the garage.
The car is very clean all round, but not concours mint by any means. There are some small marks here and there, (it is 22 this year).
The arches are very clean with only very minimal bubbling on the rear arches, I can take some specific photos if they are required.
It has had 6 previous owners prior to me.
The interior is again very clean, the seats and door cards are in very good condition as can be seen in the photos. The previous owner fitted things like a brand new gear knob and new leather gear lever gaitor which all makes the interior very tidy.
All of the door open display lights work as they should, the low fuel light even works.
It has a standard Ford stereo with Ford CD player underneath it. Both work as they should, I have the codes for both.
It is HPI clear and as far as I can tell, it has all of its original date stamped panels.
I have Mot’d it as of 30th April 2013 with no advisories and taxed it for 6 months from 1st May 2013 so it is ready to enjoy.
The only mods from standard are a stage 1 chip, its running 250bhp, (it has never been more than stage 1 tuned) a stainless exhaust with a modest 3 inch tailpipe, vibratech engine mounts, ( I have standard excellent mounts that can go with the car) a group A coil has been fitted, the radiator fans have been properly rewired
and most of the bushes underneath front and rear have been replaced with poly bushes.
The engine photo shows a Bailey dump valve which can go with the car if the new owner wants it, I have the original Ford dump valve and pipework to put it back to Factory spec.
Other than the above, the car is in a standard, unmolested condition.
I have a 2 inch thick folder with a very complete service history for the car, lots of tax discs and all bar 2 of its mot’s. There is literally £1000’s of invoices that cover its
21 ½ years / 149,000 miles.
The previous owner cut any rot that existed out of the rear chassis legs and repaired them to a very high standard. I have comprehensive photos of the work done which are part of the history.
In the last 3000 miles, the car has had the following parts fitted,
Full cambelt kit.
Group A headgasket kit (Head came off due to exhaust studs needing to be Helicoiled).
16 x Hydraulic lifters and full engine sensor kit fitted at same time as head gasket.
Front discs and pads
Toyo Proxes (still in as new condition all round)
New front heated windscreen.
New fuel tank
New oil pressure switch.
New battery (still under warranty).
The car drives very smoothly with no nasty rattles, bangs, clunks or horrid noises of any kind. There are no clouds of smoke following you around either.
It needs to be driven to be fully appreciated.
It also had a Viper Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser fitted shortly before I bought the car,
I have all of the paperwork and 2 fobs, sets of keys.
Bad points, (all old cars have them)
Electric sun roof doesn’t work (at least it’s in the closed position).
Roof lining is a little saggy.
The alloys although recently referb’d have a couple of kerb marks on 2 of them.
Passenger front fog light has a crack in it.
I’m after £5395 Ono for it, I’m not desperate to sell so I wont be accepting any ridiculous offers ta. I don’t really need a px either as this is my 3rd car.
I will listen to sensible offers from people who have seen and been in the car.
I have probably missed out some relevant info, please ask if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them.
I am based in Daventry, Northants and the car is available to view at most times.
Thank you for taking the time to read all of this if you have got this far, lol.
Nick
