Up for auction is my 8 year long RS Turbo restoration project.
It is 90% finished, it would probably take someone with a bit of enthusiasm and knowledge 4 weekends to finish it off to a working car
Or maybe 2 to 3 months to finish it off to a stunning example that I was planning on.
You can take a look at the full restoration thread of this car, and read the full reason at the end of the thread of why I am selling the car :-(
You'll be able to see that no expense has been spared on the restoration of this car !!!!!
http://www.escortrsturbo.co.uk/forum1/index.php?showtopic=18584&st=0
Unfortunately you'll have to join the escortrsturbo forum to view the thread , but if your serious about bidding for the car , you'll join ! If you don't want to join , then email me and I can provide you with a temporary username and password to view the restoration thread.
I will post up the ebay link when the listing goes live !
The car has only ever covered 58469 miles, the body is 100% rot free, I don't have no service history or previous MOT's only the MOT I got for the car back in 2001, I used it for 1 year then took it off the road, as the gearbox was making a terrible grinding noise, it turned out to be the input shaft front bearing only. But I can assure you that the mileage is genuine, if you want evidence, I can show you the original gearbox input / output shafts of the gearbox, they are hardly worn ! Plus the body condition at present speaks for itself !
I have every part for the car that you can't see in the pictures , front seats , lights , indicators , airbox , heater fan and surround, and everything else that I might have forgot to mention
BUT here's a list of what the car needs in parts to finish it off ………
Airtec Alloy radiator, ( £200) ( Burton )
(I have the original rad – But not sure of what the cores are like after sitting dry for 8 years )
New -34 actuator - £70
New alternator - £50
New ZVH cambelt tensioner - £25
T3 compressor housing gasket - £8
Spark plugs - £10
3 x jetex 2.5" stainless steel exhaust clamps ( Burton ) £18
Gearbox and engine oil – Price ???
Underneath of the bonnet needs a re-spray, but it's semi prep'd and primered ready for a final coat of diamond white
So roughly about £500 in parts & under bonnet re-spray cost, plus a rolling session to get the car set up right !
Parts below are what I have bought and are fitted to the car
Fully Re-con'd 1800cc Sierra CVH Bottom End ( Calculated compression ratio 8.0 )
( re-ground crank, re-bored, new pistons, new oil pump, new water pump, all new gaskets )

THE AUCTION IS GOING TO RUN ! I WON'T BE ACCEPTING ANY OFFERS, RESERVE IS SET AT £3000, THAT'S THE LEAST IT OWES ME IN PARTS ALONE !
As per the rules state ! i have to put a price on it !
£6000 ono

But sadly the project has come to a end for me ! This car for me represents a lot of bad feelings and memories :-( it's cost me the break up of my marriage and family due to the amount of time I spent in the garage doing it up, and when I do try to work on it, I just don't have the same enthusiasm and passion that I once use to have ! You could say it all been completely kicked out of me :-( I've lost the heart and the will to complete this !
Since splitting from the wife back in 2010, I've had to buy her out of the house, which doubled my mortgage instantly :-( so I've have no money to finish it off to the standard which it deserves, and even if I did finish the car, I know deep down that I'm going to be so scared of driving it through the fear of damaging the car !
Exactly the same thing that happened to the Pontiac Firebird I restored with my dad ! I just couldn't drive it without shaking like a bloody leaf !!!!

Don't take this the wrong way mate but mileage is irrelevant without history and MOTs. Condition is more important, which is obviously very good on your car! Did you have the front wings put on or were they like it when you bought it?

£2000-£3000?????Hilarious!!!!
Same people thinking their own cars are worth £10000 probably!!
I can see this cars cost you a lot but really it needs so little to finish it I would,it looks incredible,at first when I read the title and asking price I thought it was a joke but as soon as the pictures popped up I thought it was cheap,it`s effectively a new car.
Ignore some of the views you get on here fella,I was told a few months back my grand cherokee facelift was worth £5-800 when an identical one one here sold for £2500,the owner of that had also been told it was worthless.
I`m still trying to finish off my cossie but just don`t have the time right now, ironically I had the opposite to you are my missus told me I MUST finish it!!!
It`s a bad time to sell anything right now purely cos of the financial situation people find themselves in so hanging on a month or two could be the difference.
Good luck my friend.

Cheers vaughant for your comments ( also rsmk4turbo + hynes67 )
Guessing she wants you to finish it asap , so your not spending all your time in the garage and spending more of your time with her !
Which is not a bad thing really, to keep your relationship healthy
I think women see our little garage toys like another woman, if we are spending more time on the cars than them, they see it as a big threat !
i'm sure my ex considered it many times, of setting fire to the garage with me in it !
As for finishing it ! nope ! i've done my time , and i've paid the price ! i have a new relationship now, and i'm not messing that up with spending more time in the garage ! i'm done with restoring cars ! time to hang up the tools !

Lovely car and a credit to you for the attention to detail you've put in! Don't accept shit money! Fair enough you don't want to work on it but surely it's doing no harm sitting in the garage for another couple of months until people have the type of money to buy this gem and get it to the shows!! Good luck

Thanks ppl
And yes milesy , it won't take that long to finish it ! someone could quite easily get it ready for the show season !

just to add to this
I've been asked what needs doing to it, to finish it ! Well this is just a brief list of the top of my head what needs to be done
-- Rear end is done, all tightened, load valves are set. New wheel bearings done and locked, handbrake is set and fully working
-- Front end suspension / wishbones / roll bar / hubs are all set and tight, front wheel bearings are lightly tightened but will need to be torqued up , ( brand new bearings also )
-- Brakes will need fluid and bleeding front and back.
-- Exhaust manifold will need it gasket ( which I have ) and tightening , I was going to do this after the new rad and intercooler are set in place.
-- Intercooler will need mounting, I have a bracket to secure the top end of the intercooler into the original location hole at the top, I will explain this on the DVD.
-- Turbo will need setting in place, compressor end gasket is required, then it can be all tightened up when you offer the bottom boost pipe up to the turbo. A 45 deg oil pipe will need to be custom fitted for the oil return from the turbo to the block, burton sell one for £18 , all that will need to be done is to cut about a inch off the turbo oil return METAL pipe , for it to fit perfectly !
-- inlet manifold sensors to fit into inlet sandwich plate, fuel injectors + cold start valve to be fitted, inlet manifold is all still loose and will need to be torqued
-- fitiing of the throttle body, it could do with a polish inside and out , as I've bored it out to remove the inside lip , so that it flows better. I have a standard one to for the car that has been un-touched , so up to you what one you want to use.
-- exhaust fitting , ( but I have no clamps for it ) but I have the clamp that mounts to the gearbox
-- boost and water pipes, header tank will need fitting
-- new alternator to fit
-- cvh rocker cover will need either re-spraying , or I was going to get it chromed along with the inlet manifold, x-over pipe, and bonnet hinges
-- Distributer to fit and set timing , spark plugs also needed
-- Bonnet lock
-- heater fan and plastic surround
-- speedo cable
-- washer bottle and pipes
-- front seats will need bolting down
-- gearbox and engine will need oil
That's about all I can think of at the mo , maybe there are a few other smaller jobs to be done , but I can't think of everything !

Zee Germans are coming
imho
if finished that is a concourse winning car and the best part of 8k
some of the shitters out there are up for 4k
this is a seriously nice and 100% well built put together car
and imo leaving it unfinished means your marriage ended for nothing
find it in your self to do the very little to complete your hard work
even if it takes you the next 10 years as its only gonna go up in value anyway
could you not pay for someone to do the 10% to finish it

It looks mint dude Finish it off and get that cash its really worth otherwise you'll judt get idiots telling you its worth peanuts.......
Strange market to sell and buy if you ask me, ive just paid 2500 for a car thats arguably as clean as yours but i know that was a steal, its prob not as origanal in places but its as clean Theres so many numptys selling bags of crap that you would never touch with a barge pole. Half the reason its took me all these years to get back into it.
One thing i will say is if your Mrs dont support your interests then she aint the one mate, my mrs encourages me with my projects and supports me we need our hobbies and having fun helps
I sold my Saph due to some moaning woman and regret it too this day ive learnt a lot in the last 8 years.
Best of luck with the sale someone will be very happy
