Testing the water, Orion 1.6i ghia
Just putting this up to see if anyone would be interested as i now have a Mk1 Focus rs so cant afford to run the orion aswell.
1988 E reg Orion 1.6i ghia with 106k on the clock, Owned it for 2 years this month, Either last owner or owner before him had it stored for 10 years and it did about 500 miles in that whole time. Ive been using it since start of april last year and only time it has let me down was the nackard distibutor when bought so just replaced with a second hand dizzy and has ran perfect ever since. It is taxed and mot'd untill April, last few years it has flown through its mots with no problems whatsoever. Never been welded which is quite surprising as these orions have nearly all rotted away now! Underside Is MINT been waxoyled all its life and when i bought it i wire brushed it down underneath and waxoyled it at least 4 or 5 times since owning it, took it up to a garage and the guy got it up on ramps and he was amazed by how clean it was underneath! Bodywork, there is a few scabs mainly on the grey part of the paintwork next to the rear arch, doesnt need any welding just needs treated and repainted, same at bottom of drivers door. Small scab on the boot which is hardly noticable, bonnet is probably the thing that lets the car down, with all the stone chips its got on the bonnet it just looks horrible, can still get a good shine out of it but i was going to get another bonnet resprayed for it as theres a tiny hole on the underside of it. Lastly about the bodywork some paint flaking off at the rear drivers side. Bodywork is in a presentable condition, looks real clean when detailed properly but just never got time to get the small things sorted since ive been using it daily. Interior is exactly the same as when it came out the factory, theres a few marks from previous owners a small burn mark on drivers seat and i think rear seat not from me as im a non smoker and never let anyone smoke in the car! Small tear on the drivers door card and theres a few marks on the carpet which i havent got a clue what it is and they were already there when bought. Dashboard has no cracks whatsoever and steeriing wheel doesnt show any signs of wear at all really. Now onto what i have done since owning the car, when i bought the car i got it sent to a garage to have all the brakes stripped down, cleaned up and built back up and also had timing belt done at 96k. I changed the old exhaust because it was just rotten so spent £350 on a full stainless steel piper exhaust system with the 3.5' rolled outwards tailpipe and its not to loud with it either sounds just about right. Has a set of recently refurbed s2 rs turbo wheel coated in anthracite and had 4 new tyres 2 of which are toyo proxes and cant remember the other two, the refurb is a excellent job and the wheels suit the car so well. It desperatly needed a drop in height so i went for a full set of spax -40mm lowering springs and looks a lot better and holds the road better with them to. Found a crack in the exhaust manifold so bought a ashley competition 4-2-1 manifold off demontweeks and also heatwrapped it and looks better now and felt a slight difference that its a lot less restrictive than original as you would expect. Also purchased a brand new K&n replacement kit which replaces bottom half of air box on the mfi cvh so still looks standard. Other items replaced were new battery, rocker cover gasket and exhaust manifold gasket. Can service it and re mot the car if i can get asking price. All in all its a great car to drive, cheap to run had 45mpg out of it on a long run taking it easy and people love it because you never see many as there so rare and ive only seen a couple advertisedin the past month and were in no where near as good condition as this. Had many compliments about the car at shows and meets some people not even knowing what it was! lol. Looking for £1800 will take sensible offers. I feel this is a good price since you never get many solid models about anymore with the extras what come with it. Also got standard wheels to go with it aswell. Can get more pictures on request
