Default My 1999 "V" reg Silver Puma: £1350

Time has come to sell my beloved Ford Puma.

- Full service history with extensive receipts going back to the original purchase invoice from Ford.
- Mot until Jan 2011, Tax to March 2011.
- 106K miles (engine done 91K).
- 3 owners including me (I've had the car for the past 4 years and covered 65K in that time).
- Lux Pack (electric heated and adjustable mirrors, heated front screen, icy cold air con).
- Clifford G4 Thatcham approved alarm.
- Cam belt last changed 2 years ago @ 90k by Puma Specialist including tensioner, water pump and Aux belt.
- New clutch at 50K.
- Stainless Steel Milltek 'Cat back' exhaust fitted by PumaSpeed 04/04/2007 (with a lifetime guarantee).
- 4 Toyo T1-R tyres fitted last autumn (only covered 3k miles on them, 7+mm of tread remaining).
- Weitec GTN suspension lowered about 30-40mm - with FRP rear shocks fitted by Pumaspeed 10/05/2007.
- Full Powerflex bush kit fitted by PumaSpeed 05/04/2007with a lifetime manufacturers guarantee.
- New coil pack and leads 08/2009.
- Upgraded front brake discs (from 238mm to 258mm) and new Mintex Xtreme pads fitted in January 2010.
- FRP mapping including super unleaded compatibility.
- Panasonic MP3 compatible head unit with upgraded speakers. I'll include the 1000w Pioneer 5 channel amplifier that's installed under the front seat as well. Sub available too.
- Glovebox light from Fiesta Ghia

I have every bill I've spent on the car to prove the service history and general upkeep running to 50 odd pages including old MOTs and tax discs. See photo. As the original parts wore out I have replaced many of them with uprated parts for peace of mind, such as the Powerflex bushes and Milltek cat back which both have lifetime guarantees.

The exterior is in very good condition for its age - the photos are hopefully testament to this. There are a few stone chips on the bonnet, some rust spots on the rear wheel arches - this is the worst feature of the car, but this is a problem common to ALL Pumas, and in comparison to some Pumas I have seen, mine has it fairly minor. There is a small dent on the O/S rear arch, but not really noticeable. Interior condition is excellent, no tears or rips on the seats, and hasn't been smoked in.

The bottom end bearing went in the original engine, most likely to oil deprivation at some point in its life before my ownership, A second hand one was fitted in December 2007 by OC Motorsport. This engine had done 15K less than the car at the time. This new one uses little to no oil but is still checked weekly.

The car was taken onto a rolling road in November 2009 at a Puma Owners' Club meet and it gave 129bhp and 130lbft torque (123bhp, 116lbft as standard) more torque than 2 FRPs that went, proving its engine is still nice and healthy.

The ECU has also had an FRP map loaded onto it, which adjusts the settings on the torque limiter, giving more access to power in lower gears, as well as the ability to make use of the increased RON rating in super unleaded fuels. I regularly get over 40mpg (up to 49mpg on a recent run to Scotland) so the slight extra expense of super unleaded more than pays for itself. It also runs fine on normal unleaded fuel if necessary.

Service history:
07.07.00 @ 10032 miles @ Hartwell Ford, Dunstable
18.03.02 @ 19602 miles @ Godfrey Davis, Ford Harpenden
06.08.03 @ 27621 miles @ Godfrey Davis Ford, Harpenden
11.08.04 @ 43112 miles @ TC Harrison Ford, St. Neots
05.04.07 @ 54123 miles @ Pumaspeed, Wakefield
03.09.07 @ 66521 miles @ Pumaspeed, Wakefield
07.12.07 @ 71176 miles @ OC Motorsport, Brentwood
14.01.09 @ 88014 miles @ C.B. Autos, Long Stratton
11.01.10 @ 102161 miles @ Above All Autos, Gransden

I've got previous MOTs going back to 2003, as well as the VOSA printout since the records went online.

In short it has been a very reliable car, used daily by a mature middle aged driver (me), that has sharp handling, and a great turn of speed where needed, but still returns a great MPG. Any inspection is welcome.

Given the very good condition and the amount of quality work I've had done on it during the last 4 years, I have priced it fairly at £1350 for a quick sale.

Please contact me either through here via PM, email to dal@projectpuma.com or PM me for my mobile number for a chat. I'm in Cambridgeshire, a dozen or so miles west of Cambridge itself.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further information or any photos you want of anything. Thanks for reading!

Optional extras:

I have 4 off Fox3Evo multispoke 17"x7" wheels with Toyo T1-S and Yokohama A359 tyres that I've had since May 2007. (See photos) I have a spare unused and still stickered pair of the Yokohama A539s which I will include. They are practically new looking still with the odd minor scuff which you can hardly notice. I tend to only use them in the summer (using the standard propeller alloys in the winter) so don't tend to see the harsh winter salty roads. If sold with the car I'll sell them for an extra £250. If not then I'll sell them separately for £300.
