Cossie with a difference

Hi all

For your consideration I offer a Cossie with a difference, some might say it is not a Cossie at all but to everyone that loves these cars it is still a Cosworth and proud to be known as such. Technically it was only the 2.3 head that Cosworth developed for Mercedes, the 2.5, which this is, was further developed in house by the Mercedes engineers, however it still retained the Cosworth design. Neither the 2.3 or the 2.5 had Cosworth mentioned on the bodywork or the registration document, no matter both are definitely Mercedes Cosworths.

This is my car that I have owned for over a year, the reason why I am selling it is it just doesn't get used, I have a 7 seater for taking the family out and I have an Impreza P1 for everyday use, I also have a black 3 door Sierra Cosworth which I am building as a track car and I have a damaged Sapphire Cosworth with a 450bhp engine which I hope to have back on the road next year, so quite simply the Merc is surplus to requirements, if I could hire a garage I would keep it as it is undoubtedly an appreciating classic, well Richard Hammond certainly thinks so in his Top Gear road test last year.

Down to the car itself, here are the details

1989 F reg Mercedes 190 2.5 16valve DOHC
Colour black
Black leather interior
Some history
136K miles (engine is good for 200K+ before major work required)
18 inch AMG wheels (the best) with good tyres
MOT expired but will have 12 months for purchaser
Cheap Classic insurance (£120 fully comp!!!!!!!)
Very quick 205 bhp
5 speed manual dog leg gearbox
Troublesome self levelling suspension replaced with shocks and lowered springs.

Bad Bits
It is 18 years old so don't expect a new car
Couple of rust bubbles but nothing significant, underneath looks very solid.
Cold start valve needs replacing so difficult to start when cold, may just need unblocking or IACV valve may need cleaning, will sort out if I have time.
Heater blower motor seized, easy to remove and free or replace with a s/h unit.
Paintwork very good apart from the bonnet which needs respraying, nasty swirl marks in the lacquer.

Even though I love 3 doors and Sapphires I think this is a brilliant looking car, very cool, play the Mafia godfather (violin case not included).

I have been told by the 190 owners Club that a good condition 2.5 should be worth at least £3.5 to £4K, I will be advertising the car at £3.5K when I have the problems resolved, however, if someone is interested in making me an offer as is then you are more than welcome to view the car in Enfield North London any time you like. PM me or ring me on 02083516491 to arrange viewing. Go on be different, you know you want to.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. :top:

Proof that this is not an old man's car, 18 and a 19 year old had one, actually a really cool car whatever your age. They are so reliable it could easily be used as a daily runner and so unbelieveably cheap on insurance. Hell I seem to be talking myself out of selling it. If I can rent a lock up garage locally I would keep it, just have too many projects on the go at the moment and I need the space on my driveway.

Anyone that turns up with £2.5K cash can drive it away as is.

Also if anyone is interested in a black 3 door track car I will be selling it in the near future, full cossie kit 1.6 shell with a 300bhp YB installed, stripped out with a safety devices roll cage.

Sadly been messed about by timewasters (thankfully no-one on Passionford) so still for sale.

Completely missed this comment last time, can you provide any information on the history? Or give me a contact number so I can ring your mate. Cheers.

Still for sale by the way if anyone is interested, will be MOTing soon and fixing the slight faults, will go on Ebay with a reserve of £2500.

These are seriously cheap cars, can't understand why they are not snapped up, must be the credit crunch but they are investments, you are not going to lose money on a car like this.
