Compulsory items when travelling in Europe

Whole of Europe -> 1 triangle, Spain -> 2 triangles
Germany -> extinguisher
Spain, Italy, Austria -> reflective vest

box of spare bulbs, first aid box, glass/window breaker & small can of air -> not compulsory but highly recommended (don't think they can "do you" for not having one tho)

Should always have with you -> driving license, registration papers of vehicle, MOT certificate (control technique), insurance papers, proof of id (as if you still have a old license without photo, its not a proof of id), accident form, medical form
