No i didn't mate as i was almost out of gas and i welded them autogenously so you do not get hardly any sugaring compared to with using filler, some people don't think its a good way to do it but if your fit up is perfect with no gap at all and its not designed to last a lifetime then theres nothing wrong with doing it this way, admittedly with filler will be slightly stronger but its not really required in a fully supported exhaust like this :
Couldn’t agree with you more. I weld aluminium like that sometimes, especially on corners where one sheet overlaps the next. Again, people say you shouldn’t because it’s more likely to crack. I always get relatively decent looking welds that way but that’s because my filler rod hand isn’t that steady!
