And also I think the mercs been through tougher terrain than the motorway etc.
Ive seen a few vids of old merc diesels with a million km's on them all original running gear etc.
Wasnt a mk2 cavalier the first British built car to do a million miles?i know the black cabs cover stupid mileages but this was a car.
Could be a slight myth but I think the guys pretty straight when he told me that back in the 80's "rank films" had a fleet of fiesta 1.6 diesels that ran 24/7 from london to Bristol,up to Manchester,across to newcastle and back to London again delivering the latest films to different cinemas etc.
He claimed they were hitting 500000 miles after 3 years when they went to auction but due to the 5 digit speedo nobody was that aware of the mileage apart from the seat/steering wheel/carpet etc and often the traders would just replace these items and sell the cars as "first time round" mileage.
Impressive if true.
