bit of a long story this one, it all started 5 months ago when i bought a s1 with a blown head gasket, repaired that and had some body work done etc, 3 weeks ago got the bits all back on the engine at it wouldn't start due to no fuel getting through, pump was running ok even linked out relay but no luck, changed the metering head and it started, running a bit rough due to high tickover and timing out but otherwise ok, adjusted timing (12'btdc) on friday afternoon and reset tickover to about 900rpm, running sweet

stopped to disconnect timing light and then standard ford hot starter motor would not restart, left overnight and tried saturday morning fired but would not run, low fuel so off i go to the garage 2 gallons later noe have about 3rd of a tank of fuel, will it start will it ****
So i started from scratch put in a brand new set of plugs and checked leads etc, good spark on all 4
checked fuel non at first so stripped injectors out checked all ok then tried again , now have fuel and spark and timing should be ok but wont run? maybe lack of fuel pressure i thinkdue to crap in fuel hose so i took fuel line off where it enters filter and put into a jerry can, cranked engine over, shit loads of fuel went into the can and it started
how can that be with no pressure? it ran for about 10 sec then died obviously due to lack of fuel, so i reconnected all pipes etc and tried again, started on the key ran nicely for about 10 seconds then got slowly worse loads of unburnt fuel coming out of the exhaust and running like a bag of shit, better when revved but wont idle as soon as you try it just stalls and then wont restart unless i relieve the pressure from the fuel filter then it will start again
any ideas, i am going to take the ecu to try on a known good car in the next couple of days and will get a new temp sender from ford today, cant think of what else it can be but problem is defo fuel related, its also chucking black carp out the exhaust and plugs are going black very quickly
