are proper HPI checks not guaranteed?

surly if you bought a car on information given by them, which is false, and you end up out of pocket, surly the HPI company will be liable for that.

I'm not talking about the £3 quid text things you can get done etc, i'm sure those will have a million and one Terms and Conditions and disclaimers.
