Default Breaking motors - is it worth it?

I see a lot of cars being broken for spares both on here and on the usual websites like Ebay and Gumtree. Obviously a lot of people are doing it these days but is it really worth it?

I can see the point in buying a motor on the cheap and then selling the parts on for a profit but there's people who will buy a car, spend a small fortune on it and then break it? It makes sense if you're having trouble selling it, and I know you usually wont make back what you spend on a car but can you really get good money from breaking a car?

Just seems like a lot of time, effort and hassle for not a lot of return?? Maybe I'm wrong?

If I bought a Series 2 RS Turbo for a grand could I expect a fast turnaround and a decent profit from it?
