Vodafone will NOT unlock an iPhone no matter where you go, it says this on the website
iPhone 3G and 3GS are locked to networks if purchased with a contract, only way to get an iPhone unlocked is through o2 or Orange, iPhone 4 is unlocked as standard if purchased from APPLE, still locked if contracted
