As a ball park, we charge(in the recession) £750 per m2 plus VAT. Obviously you cannot give a full price without detailed drawings and a site inspection.
i have been in the game for years and have been self employed for 9 years and i'm afraid more often than not the cost ALWAYS increases, if i quote a job over the top to cover any mishaps then the cheaper man gets the job, if i go in cheap to get the job and things crop up then either i work for sod all or pass the cost on..usually the reason for price increases are down to good old building control, who seem to make up the rules as they go along...
ok maybe doubling the price isnt neccessary but certainly have a few more quid in the bank incase
