From memory the tool is kind of oval with a small slot in one end and a bigger slot in the other with a hole in the centre. A tapping noise maybe a tappet that is not turning, a worn tappet or just simply one that is drained of oil. Leave it running and usse a few revs to see if it go's quiet when on load. The hard bit is getting it started lol
