As expensive as it all sounds, statistics show that people under 25 are accountable for about half of all casualties and fatalities in RTAs. Someone else can google them, I don't have time and can't be arsed but it shows up every year on the government website and in the local newspapers after just about every accident...

It's not great and we've all been spanked for the high premiums but it's life. And put yourself in the insurer's shoes.... if it was my money, I wouldn't insure a 17 year old bloke for ANY price.

Doesn't help your original question though.

What I suggest to customers buying cars for their kids is to insure it themselves [some insurers WILL recognise named drivers and give some NCB] or contact Norwich Union and get one of these black box, pay as you drive things for a year.
