My younger brother passed his test last year, he's 18 and has a 1.3 fiesta, he was getting quotes aroung the £2k mark, so he had to get my mam to insure it and go as a named driver, still costing him £1100.
problem is they are clamping down on that now, so if you have a bump going to college/work, the insurance will turn around and say that you are using the car daily when you are not the main driver, and will cancel the policy
