They were designed with a water jacket...but ran absolutely fine without..that goes for 99% of turbo's (roller bearings and varints excluded).

So back to my original point; if its goiing to cost the guy near on a 100 quid to get a set then why not just take them off? As (i'll say it again) if you warm it up and cool it down properly it'll be fine.

The purpose of water cooler turbos is not to cool the turbo but to try and keep the oil and water at similar temps..
