you should get 5 v from the dizzy. The green wire is grounded to by the ECU. There should be 12 volt square wave across the coil leads while cranking. If not, then the ecu or loom is shagged.

I will get the scope on it again tomorrow. I did think it was the ecu but i hoped it wasnt.

As i have already said, you have used a known working ECU on your car, you refitted it back to danny's car after, and his car ran......ECU eliminated from the equation!
