Here we go people, I've been a member since impulse buying a 'tidy'... Black S2 back in Aug 2005. Since then I think I've only done a 1000 miles in it. With what I've learnt off you guys over the past year I wouldn't have bought it but I'd always wanted an escort turbo/it was black/it was local/and Red16 was getting stuck into his 1600i which is why I got the Ford bug. Anyway here is what it looked like back then along side my other toy.
I'm starting this thread from peer pressure from my mate Red16 to get my arse into gear and have the escort sorted for the summer. I respect the concourse lads for the time and effort they put into their cars, this project however won't be to that standard but hopefully interesting for you's keeping track of my progress.
Not long after I'd bought it we got a random spell of rain for a day or two, after which I noticed the carpets were damp. Being a bit concerned about my new buy I pulled the carpets back to find the usual rot.
Put it straight into the bodyshop to get this sorted out as I had some spare cash at the time.
I was also putting posts up on here as I was going to make the usual mods i.e suspension/turbo etc and make it personal.
However.... the rot fairy wasn't finished with me yet.
Right, another week or two of mildly tuned RS driving until I decided to have a real look at what I'd bought. My gran has a pit in her garage so I took it round for a full inspection.

I was thinking at the time that there seemed to be alot of underseal on everything, but the bits were coming off to be upgraded anyway... not a problem
Then I started prodding

I'd started now and was on a mission so the rear interior came out.......

I drove home that night, went to bed and I may have shed a tear. My tidy escort was nothing more than a recently sprayed field dwelling rot box.
I woke up the next day and searched the autotrader for a new motor. At the time my cousin had a 172 and after driving it I thought I'd fancy a bit of that. New, clean with more bhp than the rs and no rot. I'd come to the conclusion that the RS was now a major project, even if I'd just wanted to get some decent cash back as there can't be many idiots out there dumb enough to buy what I had.
The winter was coming and the bike had to go so I managed to part ex it aginst this and was driving around in it within the week.
And the escort was then put to bed in the garage for what turned out to be 14mths

2007 Motivation
I've decided this is going to be one of the best years of my life, i went away with the lads skiing, went to amsterdam and got engaged to the missus.... before you's start she's not a window lady and I wasn't stoned. I did the romantic thing and took her over for the diamonds..... right back to the important stuff. I've sorted my flat, got a magaluf stag holiday booked and will be going away with the missus later on. The only thing to spend my money on now is the RS which has hung over me like a bad smell for months. Not to mention the grief I've got for taking up space over the pit.
Inspiration
Red16 is driving around in a 350+ bhp evo and another mate is modding the shit out of a GTIR. I know I can't compete but giving them a run for there money with 2wd should be fun. Let the games begin....
